Well this is joyous news! I am glad to hear my analysis is pessimistic.

Source?cantorb wrote:Solid analysis overall but that interview with Josh Rubenstein was when they were only doing phone interviews, which were generally considered a formality. Jessica Soban said in an interview when they switched to Skype (2012) that they were aiming for 1200 interviews, and by all accounts that number has increased. https://www.admissionsdean.com/research ... sica-soban.curious bobcat wrote:I suspect the estimates above are severely low-balling it. My optimism is obviously self-serving, but here are three reasons why I think the odds are pretty solid for JS1s so far...
1) The 2010 interview with Josh Rubenstein states HLS interviewed about 1,000-1,200 applicants, and they end up offering 900-1,000 acceptances. This puts JS1s, regardless of timing in the cycle, at 75%-95% acceptance. Admittedly, this was five years ago, but I can't find any evidence that they have ramped up their interviewing rate enough to justify the current speculation.
(http://www.top-law-schools.com/josh-rub ... rview.html)
2) According to our spreadsheet, the average numbers for JS1s this cycle is 175/3.88. According to lsn, candidates with those numbers are accepted at an 87% rate.
(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... =3&vpid=A1)
3) A few pages ago, it was mentioned that somebody in last year's applicant thread estimated that Oct/Nov JS1s are accepted at a 95% rate, according to some TLS spreadsheet. Too lazy to go find that post, but it should be a few pages back--presuming it was not deleted.
In addition there were only 918 acceptances in 2014, which was significantly up from the 3 previous years (which were in the mid 800s).
