Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
I applied the week applications opened (RD) and was accepted last week. But I guess that's not too helpful because super early applicants wait months before files are even reviewed.
Any mid/late-October or November applicants accepted? Time frame on your file?

I think I'm on the train to the WL, submitted September, complete in October, and no word yet. Anyone else in a similar boat?

Those who have been accepted, did you write a why michigan? I submitted one of the other optional essays and now I'm concerned I shot myself in the foot with that choice. That or they are skeptical that my southern self would actually choose to be that cold. hahaha

How long did it take between when you went complete and received a decision?TheodoreKGB wrote:I applied the week applications opened (RD) and was accepted last week. But I guess that's not too helpful because super early applicants wait months before files are even reviewed.

Does Michigan ever do interviews as part of their admissions process? I'm sure it's been addressed, sorry for not wanting to read all 32 pages! Is there a thread somewhere that lists all schools that will/may/will not do interviews? Thank you.

I went complete pretty fast, like within a week or so. So that means from complete to decision it was about 10 weeks.threatlevelmidnight wrote:

Ahh, I'm still incomplete almost 3 weeks now. Guess they're slowing down a bit. Probably even longer than you to receive a decision yikes.TheodoreKGB wrote:I went complete pretty fast, like within a week or so. So that means from complete to decision it was about 10 weeks.threatlevelmidnight wrote:

Well, It's important to bear in mind that they probably didn't review files for all of Sept. and much of Oct. And also remember that everyone's decision time frame is different. I think the only semi-predictor of a longer wait is being below both medians, but that's true everywhere.threatlevelmidnight wrote:Ahh, I'm still incomplete almost 3 weeks now. I highly doubt it will hurt. I didn't write a Why Michigan and was accepted on the first day. I also am from pretty much as far south as one can go in the contiguous US, so I think you will be alright.tflan19 wrote:Those who have been accepted, did you write a why michigan? Yeah, I went complete in late Sept and still have yet to hear. Normally I wouldn't worried at all - but I've been in the first (or close to first) wave of all other school movement thus far so its feeding my neuroticism. I'm thinking I'll submit a Why MIchigan if I haven't heard anything by Jan!QuentonCassidy wrote:I highly doubt it will hurt. I didn't write a Why Michigan and was accepted on the first day. Also, glad to hear someone else from my neck of the woods is thinking about the north - everyone else thinks I'm crazy

Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
I was accepted a few weeks ago and I didn't write the why michigan essay. I did however write two of the optional essays. I really do like Michigan A LOT - one of my top choices - but I thought it would be more interesting to share some aspects of myself I didn't get to touch on in the PS and how I would fit well at Michigan- since they offer a variety of essay topics. Maybe if you have insanely awesome numbers and need to convince them that you're really considering Michigan a "Why Mich" would be good, but I doubt its an auto-ding. I did write a Why Michigan, though obviously I have no idea whether it played any role in my being admitted.tflan19 wrote:Those who have been accepted, did you write a why michigan? I submitted 11/1, went complete 11/13, and was admitted 12/1.TheodoreKGB wrote:I applied the week applications opened (RD) and was accepted last week. But I guess that's not too helpful because super early applicants wait months before files are even reviewed.

can I ask your numbers? Feel free to PM - just wondering, since I submitted almost a full month before you. Hopefully it'll help put things into perspective.WinterComing wrote:I did write a Why Michigan, though obviously I have no idea whether it played any role in my being admitted.tflan19 wrote:Those who have been accepted, did you write a why michigan? Did anyone else do ED? If so, do you think we'll hear back before the 15th?

I feel like I'm right on the fence between admission and waitlist. The anticipation for a decision is building.
