Wow, that's incredible that they didn't consider the $75k. Are you doing exact calculations? For instance, at USC, the CoA at repayment would be $X, while at UCLA, it would be $Y. Is the difference significant?* I wouldn't mention the commuting part, family situations can change. Also, do a statistical comparison wrt to employment outcomes, emphasizing your concerns that it has a higher unemployment rate, higher 2-10 law firm jobs, higher solo practitioners, etc. Do this analysis for the past few years. Look for projectory/pattern/trend, and play on this anxiety. Also, concerns about higher class sizes, and how that affects other aspects of the school culture and job and school opportunities. I think that's how I would approach it.EarlofSandwich wrote:I sent UCLA my 75k USC offer, and they decided not to offer me any aid at all. My numbers are at/below their medians, so I guess I don't have much leverage even if USC's offer is much better. However, I'll probably still go since I will be commuting from home and thus save some money. Does anyone have any advice for how to proceed from here?
eta: I would also include how much you love UCLA and how UCLA is so much better than USC because of your personal reasons.
* If you borrow less to start with, the interest will accumulate slower, so the difference for debt at repayment might actually be greater than $75k.

I think he implied UCLA is already cheaper despite the USC scholarship because it is within driving distance of his house and USC may be too far meaning that he would need to pay for rent and so on.. Right?

If UCLA is within driving distance of his house, so is USC. LA's not THAT big.HalfStudent wrote:I think he implied UCLA is already cheaper despite the USC scholarship because it is within driving distance of his house and USC may be too far meaning that he would need to pay for rent and so on.. Has anyone done the school tour? How long did it take? I have a class visit from 9-10:15 and tour at 10:30. Just wonder how long the tour will take because I have work at 1:30 and I want to know if I will get back home on time.
Thanks

I think mine took about 30-45 minutes. It's not huge. I can't imagine it would take more than an hour even if you really took your time.vm18 wrote:Has anyone done the school tour? Just left. This was at an admissions information session way back in November, so I'd already been through a presentation and Q&A with Talin Broosan before my tour.vm18 wrote:Thanks! That would be hard to guess. They didn't offer as much money as years past but they were a lot more liberal with fee waivers so they had more applicants. I'm guessing they are short.Ags33474 wrote:Any idea about the number of deposits?

That's a lot but it doesn't tell us much as it may include people going to others schools. I'm sure there are a ton of people going who aren't in it yet either.Hikkomorist wrote:305LawsRUs wrote:Could someone do me a huge favor, and pls tell me how many people are on the FB page? Thanks in advance.

I'm curious how everyone's post-seat-depost-deadline scholarship inquiries were received? Has anyone heard back yet?

Have not heard back yet after emailing Schwartz Friday night. I assume they're getting their data together and crunching numbers to see what they have left to offer.

Got an email. Didn't get a bump, but I already had a generous offer. Nothing more was said other than "unfortunately we can't offer you more money"
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
