Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
You might want to check with the individual schools or Mike Spivey/Karen Buttenbaum(former HLS adcomm) in their thread, but I'm pretty sure the question is largely in reference to college+. Unless you were punished for something egregious in high school (which would likely involve legal action unless it's academic dishonesty) then you should be okay. Definitely do not worry about elementary/middle school

Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
I don't think the concern is really about admissions or how the schools react--it's about making sure your law school apps are consistent with the bar. I think it's probably worth a call to schools to confirm what should be included, unfortunately. That's what I'm planning to do re: my own pre-college indiscretions.smccgrey wrote:js1663 wrote: I was wondering about this too. I was suspended a few times in elementary school like any good, energetic kid. There's no way i'd be able to remember all the instances I got in trouble. Do they really expect us to report on our elementary school records?
Realistically, if you answer no to that question, do you think Harvard is going to track down what elementary school you went to, and phone them to ask for information from 10/15/20 years ago? I really doubt it. I mean high school maybe - but even then, it seems like a stretch.
I think it's unclear enough that if on the off chance they actually did, you would be able to say "Wow, you mean that included elementary school!? I assumed it didn't, because that would be ridiculous!"

I seriously doubt any Bar Association is going back into even your high school record, let alone your middle/elementary. In fact, serious question - what do they even research beyond your criminal record?smccgrey wrote:everything_bagel wrote:I don't think the concern is really about admissions or how the schools react--it's about making sure your law school apps are consistent with the bar. I guess it's better safe than sorry! What would getting into a little trouble in high school have to do with the bar though? I actually don't have anything that would be on my record (as far as I can recall), I'm just curious.

hahah this is why I think there needs to be an IDGAF option (although I think blueberry is more of an "I can't decide" than an "ANYWHERRREE"
