For those of us that are on the waitlist, I am going to begin an Emory Class of 2017 Waitlist thread so that we can commiserate and be anxious together!

I think that it is time for Emory to raise admission standards, cut class sizes, and place people in real jobs rather than school funded ones. Just my 2 cents.

Does anyone know what the average scholarship is, relative to lsat/gpa? I'm trying to figure out if my offer is low compared to others with similar numbers (not that I can use that as a negotiation point, unfortunately...). My lsat is just below 50th, and I'm right at gpa 75th...got $19,000/year.

The jobs report is showing up screwy on my mobile. But we discussed these numbers here last week and I am only moderately concerned. An alumnus responded that his school funded job led to a good PI position.

I'm more concerned that the ABA reported that jobs in firms 501+ rose 10% last year, but Emory's dropped from 14% to 10%. UGA reported a similar drop. Is this Vandy/Duke grads staying in the region?

Not sure why they don't have them on LST. There definitely are some.

I'm going to guess that it's just a slip-up with LST..I mean, you should be able to trust the ABA Employment Summary form. LST just underwent a major re-haul, so maybe a few things got messed up along the way.

Wow, thanks. Looks like they really cut the scholarships if you're below 165, regardless of gpa. I wonder if I retake in June (and score higher) if they will increase $$?

Emory just sent around an email announcing they will finally begin accepting credit cards for payment of deposits. So much more convenient than the wire transfers they had originally asked us to use for deposit purposes

Depositing today.

eta: The deposit form lets you check off "I have submitted deposits at other schools," as well as "I am on the waiting list at a school that I would prefer to attend if accepted."
2 questions--
1) does this imply that they do not care if I deposit at another school as well? I haven't, but it would be nice to know if that's an acceptable thing to do.
2) If I am not sure whether I would prefer to attend the schools I have been WL, do I still check that box, just so they know that I am in fact, on other waitlists? Since I doubt I'll get money from the other schools where I was waitlisted, even if accepted, there's a good chance I'll still choose Emory.

1) Most schools understand that it's common to deposit at multiple schools. I know Duke explicitly states that you are not allowed to do so, but I believe they are the only school. Most others (Emory is one, I believe) have a policy that come the second deposit deadline, you cannot still be deposited at multiple schools.

2) This is a tough question I guess, but I would assume they are asking ceteris paribus in which case I would probably check yes if I were you, but I don't think that it will harm you either way

So, I put in my deposit today! Then a few minutes later I got the email about credit cards. Funny timing!

In any case, for those of you looking around at apartments, have you noted any good or bad ones in particular? I'd love to hear from current/past students. I was up there for Visiting Day, and my mom and I checked out a few complexes, but I wasn't dead set on any particular one. I just want a place that's relatively close (or on the route of that shuttle thing everyone talks about) and in a good, safe area. Reading the reviews, it seems like every place has pros and cons. I know review sites tend to attract people angry with their apartment management (and I'll be writing a very angry review for the place I currently live in, heh) but if anyone has some insight that would be great.

Thanks! I think I'm only going to deposit at Emory now, but good to know. I'll go ahead and let them know about my WL, but I guess I shouldn't check the "I definitely plan to attend Emory Law in Fall 2014 and foresee no circumstances that will prevent my doing so" box.
