I find it so peculiar that I applied on 1/31 and was accepted on 2/10 with merely decent numbers but some people haven't heard back and applied in november. good luck to you still waiting and hopefully we'll be classmates!

They most likely wanted to snatch up the 3.9 gpa. Looking on LSN, they seem to be taking people with a 159 at lowest with a 3.7 and higher.

Does this perhaps mean good things for my cycle despite the low LSAT score? I was petrified to even apply with that shit.

If you want to live in DC you're looking at $1400+/month for rent and util. I spend about $230/week on food (male, 190 lbs). If you take the metro its $3.50 per ride non-peak and $5 per ride peak.
The most expensive things in DC are the bars. A $40 tab from back home in New England was $165 at a standard bar in D.C.

Yes, I live at the Aston. I would recommend it just to get the experience of D.C. living, but honestly it's 3x more expensive than I thought it would be. There aren't many dives or cheap bars or restaurants. Sure there are college type areas but those colleges are GW, Georgetown, and American...not cheap schools if you get my point.

Just got an email about financial aid but it didn't say anything about scholarships- any word on this? Did I receive 0.00 in scholarships if it isn't listed here?

I'm in a townhouse thats closer to GW Law than the Aston, I pay $1100 a month, average apartment is usually $800-1100. There are plenty of cheaper bars in Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights, not dirt cheap like some bigger cities, but $3 beer level.

Average apartment cost in D.C. is not $800-1100... You probably pay so little because you live in a townhouse with 3-5 roommates.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from living in D.C. I absolutely love it here and love the law school area. But it doesn't hurt to be informed.

I'm just speaking from experience of friends who Live in Foggy Bottom, West End, and Columbia Heights. Places like the Winston House, Claridge House, and the Savoy. Safe area, the apartments aren't the nicest places on earth, but they aren't bad either.

Private message me if you have any questions about rents and rentals in DC. I have lived here for four years and can give you plenty of advice.

Park View (East Columbia Heights) and Petworth are currently the edge cheap options. For a bit cheaper you can choose Brookland. Downtown areas are going to be the most expensive $1400+ but room shares in other parts of the city will run from $775 to $1000.

Arlington would be more convenient than Alexandria, though Alexandria may be less expensive. However, the further away you are from campus the harder it will be for you to participate in the community. There is certainly a difference in being 10 minutes away from someone by metro, versus 3 blocks away walking.

FWIW, I live in Alexandria, and google maps has me at a 17 min drive to the GW law school. Tag some onto that for traffic, especially during rush hour. It might not be ideal for new-to-towners, but you can find cheaper rent out here.

Gave me $16/year. Considering the only other offer I have in hand ($20k/year w/instate tuition at U of MN), I'd say their offer is extremely uncompetative--especially since they have one of the highest tuition figures of any law school.
