Yes. Very much so. However, my worry of finding a job is not limited to LLS, but to California and the legal profession much more generally. I know I want to be a lawyer and I believe LLS is a solid school with a good rep. I do want to be able to make a decent living after school, though.

Long time lurker, first time poster. DR 2/26/13. Waitlist letter received today. Loyola is a huge reach for me, so I'm pretty surprised. Anyone else planning on waiting it out?

If you're not at the top of your class at a good/decent school, its hard to get a job in almost any industry. Except if you want to be a doctor, from what I hear.

I believe April 15th for accepting scholarships, and April 30th for seat deposit. I may be remembering incorrectly, though.

I don't know how they could possibly know, unless they are cyber-stalking you and able to identify you from your TLS posts or they have an insider at the law school where you deposit.

However, in the highly unlikely event that they did know you deposited I don't see how any reasonable person could possibly hold this against you. You've already indicated that you intend to go to law school (by applying). If they don't offer you admission they ought to expect you will deposit some place where you have been admitted.

Interesting. Is this from LSAC's website? I still say it doesn't hurt for them to know. If an applicant has accepted at a perceived "better" school or higher ranked school he or she might be less likely to be admitted off of the waitlist.

However, if Lovelaw puts down a seat deposit at another school and sends a LOCI to LLS indicating a continued desire to attend LLS (perhaps even acknowledging the other deposit), I don't see how the seat deposit could be a liability. It is true that another seat deposit could show a resolve to attend law school even if that law school is not LLS, but holding out for a desired law school and eliminating the possibility of a back-up plan, I think, would be seen as foolish (and this would be foolish, if someone actually intends to have a seat at a law school come August). This is all simply only my opinion, of course.

Thank you both for your input. I agree with CO2016YEAH. It would be illogical to not hold my seat elsewhere while waiting to come off the wait list at LLS. I mean, if I don't get off it, then what am I supposed to do? I just hope that it doesn't deter admissions from reconsidering my application.

That's what an LOCI is for

Even past June 15th or whenever schools are aware that you've placed seat deposits at other schools, if you give them a fresh LOCI then they'll know you're still serious about switching to them if admitted.

I didn't have any luck... although I haven't heard of anybody who have been successful either. They didn't shoot me down, just told me to wait until they get closer to deposit deadline. Do you mind if I ask how much they're offering you?

I thought they had in previous years as well. It could be they are different types of awards/scholarships. My $90k indicates that I am a "Loyola Scholar," but there are evidently other scholarships.

I had a 90k offer at first (Loyola Scholar) and then contacted the office to ask them to up it, they increased to 96k, said they'll let me know about a potential full-ride offer in march (although I seem to see that they have begun offering them...)

I thought I remembered some going from 54k to 90k and from like 18k to 45k, too. But my memory is not that good from months ago.

Anyways, I had 54k but didn't attempt to get it raised. I was planning to but life happens and now it's time to leave the LA area and go back home to the 'ol PNW.

YES. YOU SHOULD DEPOSIT AT ANOTHER SCHOOL IF YOU ARE WAITLISTED / WAITING ON LOYOLA. it would be silly not to.
