I hope you're right! I am going to visit in January and something in my heart tells me that William and Mary is where I'm supposed to be. I've gotten better offers from other schools, and I'm trying to be logical about all of this, but everyone I've talked to says how much they LOVE Virginia. No one has said a single bad thing about the state.Virginia is unquestionably the best state.

I would say this is pretty accurate. The eastern shore/NOVA is completely different from the rest of the state, and western/central VA is a lot more... calm and southern. Williamsburg is great. I'm from the opposite side of the state, but I've been to Williamsburg at least 10 times and it's a really nice place, especially for anyone remotely interested in colonial history.
And laxbrah420 is right, the state cops suck.

The state cops are HORRIBLE! We got pulled over and harassed to no end because we were stopped smoking a cigarette in a parking lot. We were told we looked "suspicious".rich_4 wrote:JoeMo wrote:As someone that just visited Virginia for the first time, I can say with the confidence that this is the credited response.laxbrah420 wrote:The north is pretty northern and everywhere else is Georgia

Williamsburg is awesome though. I would've been completely comfortable living there for three years. The atmosphere at the school is very collegial and Dean Shealy is pretty awesome. Everyone I encountered was super nice at W&M. They were one of my top choices, even more so after my visit.

Sarcasm. But seriously, when you wear a beard as dress like I do, everyone thinks you're a stoner. I'm used to people being suspicious for no reason. I'm just a beer man. I suppose I'll have to cut my beard for OCI. I hate thinking about that.Bashy wrote:He said on a forum for aspiring lawyers where adcomms lurk constantly.BeerMaker wrote:Darn smokers. First time poster here. Got into W&M recently with a 165/3.8 (OOS), received a surprisingly awesome offer of 14k grad fellowship and 8k annual scholarship. 22k a year is going to be tough to beat by other schools, so don't give up hope for a decent scholly offer from W&M.

I am too. Many people think it is a self tar. I assure them It is not. I do look similar. My beard is much shorter.FavoriteColorGRUE wrote:BeerMaker wrote:Sarcasm. Has anyone heard back from W&M recently? This is one of my top choices, but I just went complete 12/19. Does anyone know when some decisions will be going out?

Went complete early December, had an update on 12/7, and have been motionless since then.

Same here as well. Hopefully we'll see some movement next week, I don't think they could have admitted enough students to actually fill their class yet... *fingers crossed*Bashy wrote:Christine12456 wrote:Has anyone heard back from W&M recently? I get the impression that they admit the best candidates right away, then hold most of the apps until March when they send the "okay, I suppose" acceptances. I'm hoping for one of those.somewherewarm wrote:Same here as well. Okay William and Mary. It is seriously not cool to send an unsolicited viewbook to someone who has been complete and waiting for a decision for A MONTH AND A HALF!/vent
Okay, I feel better now. But seriously, WTF?

Have ANY TLS'ers gotten word on fellowships that they've applied for (IBRL, election law, Law & Tech etc.)?
Are they waiting till March to make that decision? Or did we all fail?

No movement on my app since October.
And I have a full ride offer from Washington & Lee. Might just withdraw from W&M.

been complete since 11/28, and im instate, also have a scholarship offer at w&l, if i get into w&m it would really be a hard choice between the two schools.

I was offered a fellowship, though, from what I understand, one is not immediately offered a specific fellowship (I'm sure the one specific to the JD/MPP is different) their first year. I applied for the Election Law fellowship and I'm pretty sure your first year you just do general administrative duties and then do specific work your 2L and 3L years.northside wrote:Have ANY TLS'ers gotten word on fellowships that they've applied for (IBRL, election law, Law & Tech etc.)?
