Not ED, complete sometime in September also see edited post. Was too excited and was actually just $25,000, ha ha but still exciting! Also not a VA resident though I was born there so not sure if that had any bearing.

Congrats to you both!!!!
Man, UVa is really pulling totally away from last cycle - I guess those still waiting should be prepared for anything! I can't believe how much money they are offering so early in the cycle and so sporadically every few days. I think usually schools that make calls do them all at the same time.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I was just reading the thread speculating about the possibility of a big drop in applicants this year, so they could be trying to get all these offers out early to ensure they can keep up their medians and matriculation rates.MumofCad wrote:Congrats to you both!!!!

I want to believe this too, but they've let in so few RD splitters that I feel like it might just be a different strategy than in previous cycles. It doesn't really make sense if they are worried to keep all these RD splitters hanging while throwing money at people not likely to attend (especially if the drop is true, we can rest assured that those with strong numbers will be getting good offers at HYS/CCN). Plus, they've even given pretty large scholarships to ED applicants, who are bound to go anyway. So I'm not sure how much the money can be used to read into applicants.iamrobk wrote:I was just reading the thread speculating about the possibility of a big drop in applicants this year, so they could be trying to get all these offers out early to ensure they can keep up their medians and matriculation rates.MumofCad wrote:Congrats to you both!!!!

The early decisions though....that seems to imply either more efficiency or less applicants.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I have a question... so a few of you I know have received 120k, 90k, and 75k scholarships.
My numbers are not such that I will be getting any money up front (164/3.89) but I ED'd. Which means if I get in, this is where I'm going (I refuse to sit out the cycle). I always believed T14 at sticker was better than full scholly at T2 anyway.
So... when you all get accepted to HYS and decide to go there does this open up the opportunity for people like me to get $$$ at ASW or no?
Thanks in advance.

Not really, you EDed. More likely, UVA will use the freed money to accept someone off the WL.JoeMo wrote:I have a question... so a few of you I know have received 120k, 90k, and 75k scholarships.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
They also know approximately what their yield is - they know already that most of these people aren't going to matriculate from previous cycles. So they aren't counting them in as admits. They can be absolutely certain that they aren't going to have a 100% yield on the people getting offered these scholarships right now.JoeMo wrote:Ahhhh... that makes sense. Be sure to check your junk mail too. I had 2 UVA emails that got caught in my filter and I never have had important emails go there before (that I know of).
Also congrats to everybody who got in again. I call dibs on shortstop in our section's softball team.

Thanks everyone! I'm really grateful to UVA, honestly, even though I do have pretty good numbers. I'm not taking any school for granted, much less HYS. I wish the best for all of you fellow applicants. MumofCad in particular, I sincerely hope that UVA will up their offer for you soon, because you definitely deserve it way more than me, haha. Good luck to everyone again. =)

I'm guessing status updates do not change for UVA after it goes complete the first time?

Maybe because of their weird email addresses (xyz9z@....)?
