Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I just received the same email as others yesterday stating they will look over the app again in april, which is as good as a rejection. I am disappointed but i kind of expected this decision after not hearing anything for so long.

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
They technically have until January, it's just that they usually get back by now. I wouldn't expect a law school to just let it lapse like that. We will hear back within the next two weeks, the real question is whether this is a good sign or a bad sign. I could honestly see it going either way at this point.
Actually, let's all get excited because it's actually even better than that. I just looked at their admissions website: "Early Decision candidates must complete their application by November 15 and are generally notified of the Admissions Committee’s decision in December."

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear. Looks like you guys survived the second wave of deferrals/rejections so now your odds are even better.

So here is my status on 11/22 I got an email asking me for a missing education gap addendum. I promptly replied the next day with an attachment of my addendum. They emailed me replying that they had received my attachment and would be updating it to my file. Now today I got the exact same email saying that they had not updated me file yet! I called them explaining my situation and they admitted it was their fault and that I should reply with an email stating my situation. Basically now I am super worried because I think that even if I explain my situation they have so many applications that I will be essentially penalized b/c my application is complete fairly late in the review process. UGH Columbia why do you do this to me!?!??!?!

I had the same issue with a dean's cert submission. My schools faxed it 3 times before I went complete. Postponed my complete day by a month. While it was admittedly very frustrating I'm sure we'd both forget about it in an instant if they eventually accepted us. Good luck!houng89 wrote:So here is my status on 11/22 I got an email asking me for a missing education gap addendum. I promptly replied the next day with an attachment of my addendum. I think you only need to send one in once your accepted or if there is some sort of disciplinary issue or something like that. Most people don't need to send them in until they're ready to matriculate.
Also, I am furiously updating this thread and my inbox. I need a rejection, even, at this point, just so I can allow my brain to move on to other things.

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
From the website:
Q: Does Columbia require the submission of a Dean's Certification?
A: If admitted, Columbia will require you to submit a Dean's Appraisal/Certification Form, or an equivalent certification, from every educational institution at which you have been matriculated toward a degree (regardless of whether a degree was conferred) throughout your educational career. Matriculation at the Law School is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the Dean's Appraisal/Certification Form(s), which will be made available once an applicant has been notified of acceptance into Columbia.
Withholding information regarding disciplinary history from your initial application will be considered by the Admissions Committee as a violation of the Law School's principles of academic integrity. If you answer yes to Questions 9.1 – 9.4 on the Application Form then you will need to furnish a statement from the administration at your school regarding your disciplinary history.

Oh yeah sorry Curious--didn't mean to start a fire and run haha Only needed it cause I was written up in college once.
Annoyingly--the offense wasn't even listed on my dean's cert so I postponed my completion for a month for no reason. Oh well!

I worry because I had some serious problems with my app. They send me an email a month after I sent in my app telling me big sections from the form were missing and also they were missing my resume and personal statement. I was like...wtf...because LSAC wouldn't have let me submit the form unless all the sections were complete. Flexapp fail.

This is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad idea that I refuse to entertain.unknownnumbers wrote:maybe they're holding out on people who needed deans certs until the end...
