I have been complete since 12/29 and haven’t heard a peep. Is it time to worry?

just got a 5.5k hastings grant. is that the normal/typical amount (i know, hard to quantify since every candidate is different)? when does one apply for work study? after school starts? that's not normally how undergrad, works, right?

I've been complete pretty long too with no word (1/25). However, I did talk with their front office recently (not to ask about my status) and they said that "they are trying their best to have all decisions out by early May." So the good news is that you don't have to worry too much yet, bad news is that we are looking at waiting for perhaps another month.Dasein 2011 wrote:I have been complete since 12/29 and haven’t heard a peep. Re: UC Hastings 2011
Just so people aren't confused (and, sorry for being nitpicky) City Hall is a few blocks away. The building that's on the block between Hastings and one of the BART entrances is just a federal building, currently under reconstruction. The library is indeed near another one of the BART entrances. And yes, the amazing farmer's market is right there!jdub wrote:For those who aren't familiar with the area... the block between the bart station and Hastings is the same block that City Hall is on, that the City's gorgeous main public library is on, and its where the Wednesday farmers market is held. There are more people in suits and students carrying backpacks on this block than anything else.
City Hall is quite close, just not as close as the previous post makes it sound. There is a really fun event that happens every Friday at lunch time, right in front of City Hall: Off the Grid. A group of food trucks parks together, chairs are set up, and there are usually even musicians playing. The food is amazing and varied - different trucks come every week.
On an unrelated note, I'm also surprised by those incoherent emails re: summer funding. I've never had that particular experience in dealing with the school's admin staff.

Haha. Ok. I think maybe we take different Bart entrances. I use the one that spits you out in front of burger king or Starbucks, and then you pass the library, the city hall/library parking lot (ok not city hall per se, but the wide open plaza in front of city hall), and then the Asian art museum, which is another beautiful building right across the street from Hastings.

Re: UC Hastings 2011
Yeah, I was just confused by your saying it was on the same block as City Hall, because there are no BART entrances that are actually on the same block as the City Hall building. Anyway, doesn't really matter, I just wanted to clear up confusion for anyone else reading.

Wow, so they are still making admit calls? I thought they only did that in the earlier rounds. That makes me nervous!ldjohnson4 wrote:Got the call this morning! I thought I was dreaming!

I just got waitlisted. How likely is it for me to get off the waitlist? Hastings is my first choice... Is there anything I should do to increase my chances?

Got the waitlist email. Same question as the hopeful above.

People usually recommend writing a LOCI after some time has passed. Try to make a connection between your interest and what the school offers, in terms of why you want to study law there.jwjbaek wrote:I just got waitlisted. Note: seat deposits are due May 1st; if anyone is still on the waislist after that date, strike while the coal is hot.

hhhmmmm, it seems some people (one person on this thread) received admit phone call, while others have received waitlist emails recently. If I didn't receive either, should I be worried!?

waitlisted. I kind of thought UCH had forgotten about me. I was borderline for them, so I'm not unhappy, but I think I am going to move full steam ahead with Seattle U.

Sorry guys! Don't give up on the WL. If you read the Hastings thread from last year, it looked like some people did get manage to get off the list. Good luck!

Re: UC Hastings 2011
to those of you on the WL, sorry to hear that, but people get off the WL, some of my friends got here after being on the WL. I think because the past two years have seen such drastic shifts in the number of students applying that schools will rely more on their WL than before.
Try to incorporate your "hey I want to stay on the WL message" with the LOCI
anyways, good luck
