My yellow form definitely asked about parents. It wasn't as invasive regarding their incomes, etc., but it did want to know what kind of support I'd be receiving from them.

Interesting, maybe they changed it. Or maybe it never included anything about parents. That's just the only thing i can think of that would have delayed the form.Arbiter213 wrote:Unless I did something horribly wrong, the Yellow Form doesn't ask about parents.

Maybe I am wrong. The site says that the needaccess form asks about this, is this the fafsa? Because I know that I am exempt from parental info on the fafsa.Arbiter213 wrote: Unless I did something horribly wrong, the Yellow Form doesn't ask about parents.

I just did the #@$@#%@#NEEDACCESS and GTown requests your parent info on that form.

I like that it asked how long it has been since I have lived with my mom. Hopefully seeing 8 years out will show them she is not supporting me.

Yah, it asks for my parents info. Fudge. I won't be receiving any support, but my mom does own a business.

I'm really sorry man. I saw it happen to a close friend, whose parents owned a business and it was their sole support. All they see is "Oh, you have 200k income? YOU PAY NAO!"Marionberry wrote:JFo wrote:You are so fucked. Welcome to loans.Marionberry wrote:Yah, it asks for my parents info. Fudge. You could sell a kidney? That's kind of my plan.

Nah, I'll be okay. I'm actually in a very fortunate position when it comes to financing my law school but I'd like to buffer the hit as much as possible.JFo wrote:

Re: IN at GULC c/o 2014
I remember there was one question that was something along the lines of "last year your parents gave more than $5,000 in support" or something like that...maybe that's what they're referring to? Otherwise I don't remember that question either.hipstermafia wrote:i did needaccess weeks ago (and submitted to gulc), i'm pretty sure i was not asked this. now i'm worried they changed it?sarahlawg wrote:samemr_toad wrote:My yellow form definitely asked about parents. I dunno, this is from the Gtown website: "Students enrolling in the JD full-time program may apply for need-based grant funding by completing the Need Access Application (preferred). This application collects detailed information from both you and your parents (including step-parents and non-custodial parents). Georgetown Law requires parental information from ALL applicants for need-based grant funding, regardless of the applicant's age, marital status or financial independence."mel2010 wrote:I remember there was one question that was something along the lines of "last year your parents gave more than $5,000 in support" or something like that...maybe that's what they're referring to? My mistake, the poster above me was talking about NeedAccess but the one before that was describing the yellow form; I got confuzzled.JFo wrote:I dunno, this is from the Gtown website: "Students enrolling in the JD full-time program may apply for need-based grant funding by completing the Need Access Application (preferred). Good! I was worried there. I also love how the date for finishing the yellow form has changed from March 1 to March 15th...since it came out on March 1.sarahlawg wrote:Nah, I was referring to the yellow form.hipstermafia wrote:i did needaccess weeks ago (and submitted to gulc), i'm pretty sure i was not asked this. now i'm worried they changed it?sarahlawg wrote:samemr_toad wrote:My yellow form definitely asked about parents. Ok to be clear: Yellow form asks what your parents will give ($0 for me) and their names. That's about it.
Needaccess goes way into depth about parents. Since UCLA awarded me $20k in need based (for the first year), I'm hoping Gtown at least matches that.

Yeah that sucks about the parents. I mean, so what if parents make bank if they're contributing nothing...I mean, we're all adults here, not high school seniors heading off to college.
I asked my dad to fill out the Need Access and he took one look at it and said, "Son, you're fucked." Haha.
