Question, for those of you that already received your decision letters from USD did the postmark date on the envelope match the date under mailings for "Decision Letter Sent" ??

Being born and raised in SD some of the housing advice in here is pretty confusing. Living in North County because you have a family? Almost every neighborhood in San Diego has at least some parts that are well-suited for families, I think having a 1 hour commute to and from law school would be detrimental to both family life and top-law-schools.com. Point Loma for young people would stink too, unless you love strip malls and house shopping. If you have some money I'd suggest Gaslamp/Little Italy/Hillcrest/Balboa, serious students/cheaper housing can be found in Linda Vista (which is an underrated area) and fashion valley by riverwalk golf course. For Families I'd say Linda Vista or the Genessee area as well as fashion/mission valley areas, maybe Point Loma or La Jolla if you have children and have some money.

I'm not sure if it was this thread or another but I even saw people recommending El Cajon for students. Rediculous, long commute and the worst area of SD on top of housing that is more expensive than LV or the valley

What date would you say is the date in which I should start getting concerned about not getting $$$. It sure has been awhile. I was accepted in October. 2.5 Weeks ago, they said they would send out scholarship info in the next few weeks. Im starting to get nervous. Is the nervousness justified?

I applied in october and have been complete since early November. My GPA is 3.4 and LSAT 162 and I have heard nothing. Whats going on?

Same. This is ridiculous...but I heard USD is one of those schools who had like 50% increase in applicants this year or something like that. Most of the applicants are using the school for safety I think. I see people with 170 LSATs applying and actually holding on to their spot.

USD recently jumped up in the rankings quite a bit after re-vamping their career center. The TLS article is out of date. I'm wondering if their numbers for this cycle are going to be a lot higher than any previous cycle. All the law school predictors had me with decent chances with my 160/3.42, however, I'm pretty anxious about whether or not I'll get in.

I sent my apps in late December and was admitted late January. 160/3.7 (urm too). Received a $22 k/year grant two weeks after acceptance. BTW, grew up in North County. I liked it lot, but, as another poster also stated, I think I would feel kinda trapped up there. There are not a whole lot of younger professionals there, and a pretty weak scene to meet people (if you single of course). I'm hoping to live in somewhere between downtown and the school. I personally like the downtown scene more than PB, but its a lot more expensive. All the beaches are accessible anywhere within 20 minutes of USD. I lived by and went to SDSU, and am I am definitely not doing that again.

Two things worry me about USD:
1. Cost of tuition versus career prospects in SD. Though, I feel that if I can make connections and make it work in SD, I'm really going to enjoy my quality of life after LS.
2. I heard that the school is very bright and preppy (i.e. white) - idk, a lot different than my undergrad. I went there once for a presentation and that is the impression I received, too.
