I checked last year's thread, and it seemed like the second wave of decisions were given on 2/20 after status checker changes on 2/19. I know that there are others who have been waiting much longer (I've been complete since 1/23), but the wait is killing me. I want to practice in Dallas, so SMU is one of my top choices. Good luck to everyone still waiting, and congrats to the recent admits.

P.S. Sorry for bumping the thread without providing any relevant info  .
I went complete on 1/22 (I'm RD: applied 12/28). I also ascertained from last year's thread that most regular decisions started rolling out the third Friday of February. Thus far, this year's admit cycle has almost perfectly paralleled last year's (dates-wise), so I'm betting on status updates on 2/18 and calls going out Friday 2/19. Others have disputed this hypothesis, and I would love to be proven wrong...getting a call this week would be splendid.

I agree with you... both in thinking that the next round of decisions will be next week and also in wishing that it would be sooner :)

As far as status checker activity... I went from app received (1/15) to complete (2/3), and I remember a couple other posts from people who went complete in the first couple days in Feb.

I really need to send in my LOCI this week. I fear, however, if I do get in that I won't be receiving a scholarship :(

Anybody know when to expect scholarship info?

And does anybody know what the process is for the sumner after you turn in an application?

I got moved from the early action pool to regular decision pool. Any one have any clue what my chances are of getting in? I mean is that a bad thing? When should I hear back?

Got my packet, it took Priority Mail several days to get it from Dallas to Flower Mound (about 30 miles). Good grief.

Now it just comes down to money.

Speaking of money, I don't think I wrote a specific essay for Question #15 on the application.... will I still be considered for scholarship money (other than the Sumners, which I am applying for as well)?

I'm not applying for the Sumner. For one thing, I don't feel like doing the work. For another, in no possible way could I be construed as needing the aid. And last, my numbers are average.

The only thing I would have going is a big family legacy at SMU.

Am I making a mistake by not applying, or should I go on about my day?

It took me about 30 minutes to do the application from start to finish. You can use your same LORs and PS.

But if you don't need the aid and don't feel like applying, then by all means leave it for those of us who do.

Does SMU section stack? Doesn't Sumners require you to finish in the top 1/3 of the class to retain it? And what happens if you don't finish in the top 1/3? Do you lose all of the scholarship, or merely a portion of it?

Agreed. I strongly encourage all other admitted students to refrain from applying for the Sumners Scholarship.

Well, I was just confused. It's an odd shipping choice.

It's sort of like having a headache and asking for an Anacin.

DHL is quite good in Mexico even for domestic mail. The binder is pretty nice with lots of stuff in it. Very classy.

Does the packet come with scholarship info? Or a schedule saying when they will let you know?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
