Thank you so much! This was the law school I always dreamt about when I was a kid so it was obviously a big one for me!

Woohoo!!! I seriously about passed out when I got the call. Are you for sure going to Texas? I think I've seen you in the threads for the other texas schools before..I spend too much time here haha

Congrats everyone! If an admitted students/alumni reception pops up in your city I highly recommend you go. The Houston one tonight was pretty sweet. Talked with a lot of alumni and got a lot of my questions answered.

Thinking about throwing an app to texas tomorrow. Any thoughts on how a late app will affect scholarship money for someone with median LSAT and gpa >> 75th? Wish I would have applied here back in November with everywhere else

Meh. Not sure. Scholarship renegotiation deadline is at the end of March (maybe) and you usually have to wait 2-3 wks for scholly info. I'd try and see what happens.

All of the TX talk from Rand in the other thread got me thinkin about it. I think I'd definitely prefer TX over CA post graduation, and I'm really not sure why I didn't even apply months ago. As of now USC is my non t14 fallback, btw

Like I said, go for it! The worst that could happen is you're not accepted/don't receive money, in which case all hope is not lost because you have another solid option!

Yeah, I really like Texas. I used to just tolerate it and wanted to move. Eventually, I appreciated what it offered. I kinda don't wanna leave TX for law school as well I was actually interested in the Cali market at one point but idk if I could survive there with the high taxes and super liberal atmosphere. Could you tell me about your experience in Cali.

Yeah Austin is way more like California (urban LA and Bay Area) politically, so don't make wanting a conservative atmosphere be the reason you go to UT.

Was solicited to write a Why Texas last week and misread the 2/20 deadline. Submitted first thing yesterday apologizing for the mistake - dinged today without hearing back from the adcomm who'd asked for it.

What part of Texas are you from? You do realize that Austin is super liberal, right? We are the blue heart in the middle of a red state. We have crosswalks painted like rainbows during certain times of the year for our loved LGBT citizens, we are about as liberal as they come.

...we pride ourselves on being the complete opposite of the rest of the state.
Every major city in TX is liberal. Austin isn't Berkeley and doesn't have high taxes simultaneously. In some ways, Austin is libertarian too.

Heard back from them and am being reconsidered. Great look on this adcomm's part!

Rand: If you want to know about the Texas to California transition, I'm your girl. Born and raised in the D/FW metroplex then moved to LA for undergrad. PM me though so we don't clog up the thread.

I know quite a few people in Austin who are liberal in most respects but love guns. It is Texas after all :D

Did everyone who got accepted have the CWIL welcome link on their page? I know men can be feminists, but it seems like the welcome letter is directed towards women (I am man).

I'm certain I checked male during my app...

You're in luck there then, last I checked there's a shooting range on campus (though I always go to Eagle Peak.)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
