Re: Berkeley C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Does everyone have a unique date for when they'll reach a final decision "around or on" ? If so that's kinda cool. I wonder if it's typically accurate to a T

12/9 for me. The FR email says I will go under FR tomorrow and that a decision will most likely be rendered by February 5th.jettison63 wrote:When did y'all go UR?

10/12 for me, and ditto for the second part.skimmilk wrote:12/9 for me. The FR email says I will go under FR tomorrow and that a decision will most likely be rendered by February 5th.jettison63 wrote:When did y'all go UR?

Faculty review here too. This is my second time ending up here, so I can share from that it's definitely not a good thing, but it's not the worst thing. I'm pretty sure it's either waitlist or rejection from here. This is what happened to me last year and I did go to great lengths to write a Berkeley specific PS this year, but this was to no avail. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to withdraw at this point and wonder why they don't like me--at least I really got the message this time!

I have poked around LSN and found many people who were admitted off of FR. Definitely not ideal, but there is still hope!fliptrip wrote:Faculty review here too. Yes, they were concurrent or pretty close to it last year. I am not sure if they still directly admit after they start sending folks to FR.courtleigh24 wrote:Still under review since 12/21...do dings usually come after wave of FR?

Any FR folks doing a LOCI type thing? Or sending an additional statement?

Re: Berkeley C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
From Berkeley's website. This seems to suggest most applicants, except the best and the worst, go through FR? Or is this misleading and in reality we are all looking at waitlists and rejections in FR?
"Once an application file is complete, it is evaluated on the basis of the admissions criteria by the Dean of Admissions. He admits a certain number of applicants who, under the governing criteria and on the basis of his experience, would have a high likelihood of admission if referred to the Admissions Committee. Similarly, applicants who would have a high likelihood of being denied if referred to the Committee are denied by the Dean of Admissions.
The remaining applicants are given more extended consideration by the Admissions Committee, which is composed of faculty and students."

So, for those of us not going under faculty review, when should we expect to hear (admit/deny/waitlist)?

I'm going to. I didn't personalize my PS for them at all so I figure it could probably help.oreomilkshake wrote:Any FR folks doing a LOCI type thing? Or sending an additional statement?

FR for me too, UR 12/4. I'm thrilled it's not a rejection and optimistic that I'll pull a waitlist or perhaps even acceptance! I included a why berk with my app, but don't think I would do a LOCI, as this is just another phase of admission.

Riding the FR train!
I don't think anyone should be disappointed for making it into FR. Let your softs and numbers shine! It's better than an outright ding.

I'm interested in this as well. The email did not seem to suggest that we need to show continued interest (like one would need to do if waitlisted) so this did not really occur to me..oreomilkshake wrote:Any FR folks doing a LOCI type thing? Or sending an additional statement?

As Kendrick Lamar once said "It's gonna be alright." Really don't freak out. Ton's of people get in out of FR.

I have a friend who was admitted directly off of FR, so I think the pessimism around here is a bit premature. It's not the worst thing in the world...

Re: Berkeley C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I don't think its necessary. Your app could be reviewed tomorrow and that won't help at all. If you get waitlisted, they also say not to send any additional info. I explicitly remember getting that email and frowning.skimmilk wrote:I'm interested in this as well. Seriously? What are you waiting for?
