Definitely, but there is no doubt that many firms take those rankings into consideration for hiring, no matter how truly comprehensive/telling they may actually be.
I don't think a drop of a few points in the ranking will have an affect on employment. It is not like employers are checking the rankings every time they interview someone. Most of the people who get hired from Wake are hired by people who are familiar with the school and it's reputation. Bottom line is, if you do well at Wake you will have the same chance at the same employment whether they are ranked 38 or 31.
Well either way the number of unemployed students went up a lot which is hard to ignore. I really hope career services sends us some kind of email addressing this.
I chuckled at this.
Yes, the stats are alarming and yes, I'm a little scared now too, but I don't think Wake is going to do that. Maybe this is a question that needs to come up on ASD, but I would take a look at lawschooltransparency for better data than shitty ABA.
EDIT: You beat me to it

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure LST uses ABA to calculate their stats. In fact, you can already calculate what LST is going to say regarding Wake by taking the #employed with Bar passage required and dividing it by the total #of grads. In addition, you could calculate what they will say regarding biglaw as well by adding # employed at firms with 101+ and dividing by total # in class. BTW new LST comes out in a few weeks.

True. I just think LST is much easier to understand.

When the new LST numbers come out in a few weeks Wake will have around 64% + or - 1-2% depending on how they calculate. I deduct the ones employed by the school.

Don't stress yourself out too bad. If you could look at data for most of these schools and not be a little worried than you shouldn't be in law school. A rational person would have some concern no matter that data, when you're taking out loans, relocating and investing 3 years of your life. It is perfectly normal. Just don't get over consumed with it, we will have enough time to be stressed over the next few years lol

Yeah, so I think it is going to be pretty similar (give or take a % or two). Now I am not as worried as I was ten minutes ago.

Haha me neither. Do you mind telling me how you figured that out?

Also asked for an increase and was shut down unless 'funds become available'. My bargaining chips were a lot lower so no surprise!
Sorry if this has been answered, but for the $500 deposit, if I withdraw in June, do you get any of it back or is fully non-refundable? Pretty sure I'm depositing soon, excited to visit and see how it is!

I may be off by several % points depending on how LST calculates it. But I took the total # employed-Bar passage required (113) and I subtracted the total # employed by the school (11). That gave me 102. Then I divided 102 by the total graduates 102/159. That gave me 64%. LST might not subtract the # employed by the school. In that case the % is a lot higher. If you do not subtract the # employed by the school, then you have 113/159=71%.
Their biglaw numbers (101+ attorneys) = 13.2% So that went down a bit.
EDIT: I just checked and LST does not subtract the # employed by the school.

You gotta read all those papers they send you when you get accepted. There should be one that says "Office of Admission and Financial Aid"
Under that it says:
"We encourage you to attend an Accepted Students Day on February 28, or March 21, 2014. You may register for any of the dates through the Wake Forest Law events calendar at
http://calendar.law.wfu.edu/ . If you attend one of our Accepted Students Days, we will reduce your initial deposit by $300 to facilitate your travel to explore the campus and Winston Salem. "

Really? That is a bit strange. I am pretty sure it applies to everyone who goes to ASD though. The quote above is straight off the page btw. Check your email and spam folder as well.

Hmmmm. I've gotten 5 or 6 emails, one with the acceptance letter, one from the dean, one about financial aid, another about career services. Odd.

They probably realized that it is a waste of paper and money to send so many letters. You will get the acceptance packet though.
