I know it doesn't change before admittance, but those of you who have been accepted, does it say so on your checker?NoDayButToday wrote:Does UVA status checker change at all? Mine doesn't have a date or a status other than "Complete" at the top.

Anyone think it's possible that UVA is holding onto some RD applicants until after Penn releases ED round I decisions, to see if they withdraw their applications? It seems like too elaborate a strategy, but if they care so much about their yield maybe it's not out of the question?

Yes, this message only lasts until you pay your seat deposit. Don't let it scare you if the status message disappears once you make payment!lastsamurai wrote:There is a nice welcome message across the top!alex.cm wrote:I know it doesn't change before admittance, but those of you who have been accepted, does it say so on your checker?NoDayButToday wrote:Does UVA status checker change at all? All,
Just got in at UVA RD. Applied 11/11, complete 11/12, accepted 12/5.
I'm 4 years out of undergrad, a splitter, and included a Why UVA.

PM me if you're still interested in this. I missed your post earlier.lawschool22 wrote:What are the new protocols you're referring to?RCO2012 wrote:This cycle is pretty crazy with UVA, so nobody really knows what to expect with (what seems to be) the new protocols. I'm hoping there will be a bit of movement this month, but thinking realistically, it wouldn't surprise me to see the majority of decisions come out Jan/Feb/Mar. So difficult to tell, but I want to know who my future 1L friends/foes are going to be, so I hope it's this month. Good luck to those still waiting.rule615 wrote:Does UVA tend to offer acceptances in batches? I didn't notice that kind of trend looking at the spreadsheet, but I'm just surprised that I haven't heard of too much movement from anyone over the past couple days...

At least the ED people should be finding out promptly, since they say they'll decide in 15 days. Have they been interviewing all those applicants as well before making their decision? Seems a lot to accomplish in such a narrow time frame!

99% yes, they have been interviewing "all" ED applicants.Fiera wrote:At least the ED people should be finding out promptly, since they say they'll decide in 15 days. Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Okay, I just helped my little brother finish his ED app to UVA on Friday and we are crossing our fingers. He is bright as hell but because of his work, he wasn't able to finish his app before this week. What has been the general UVA trend so far? Can anyone clue me in?
My brother has a 4.0 from a public Ivy (graduated last year), 165 LSAT, and works two jobs, so we hope that his numbers + his softs get him into UVA.

He has a good shot. There has not been a lot of decisions made thus far, so he is in good shape to be considered with the majority of applicants. The only thing is his LSAT, but ED may help with that. Good luck!Peg wrote:Okay, I just helped my little brother finish his ED app to UVA on Friday and we are crossing our fingers. Q for everybody: what is the general consensus on "public ivies"? Do law schools actually care? I assume my "public ivy" GPA is going to be evaluated like any generic state school app.Peg wrote:My brother has a 4.0 from a public Ivy (graduated last year), 165 LSAT, and works two jobs, so we hope that his numbers + his softs get him into UVA.

Not until you get to HYS really. UG reputation is of little concern until the top 3. However, T14 schools do look for grade inflation, course choices, etc. when evaluating your transcript. Re: UVA c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I think people have looked at it adjusted for LSAT scores and noted no real substantive difference. It really is pretty minimal. And that's even for HYP etc. I would think "public ivies" would have even less of an advantage. I doubt adcoms even think public ivy is a thing.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:Q for everybody: what is the general consensus on "public ivies"? Do law schools actually care?
