I'm sure this has been asked in earlier pages, but has anyone successfully upped their scholly? If so, how did you go about it? I got a decent offer from LLS, but have also received better offers from higher ranked schools. WL for UCLA and still crickets from USC...

I'd prefer to stay local though as I'm not sure I can afford to move cross country and working full-time right up to when school starts, I don't really have the time to visit faraway schools and look for apartments.

I would like to know when they stop negotiating as well. I'm hoping so because I'm still waiting on aid decisions from other schools, but I'm not sure if that will come in time before april 15th..

In the same boat. I could use Pepperdine and USD as leverage at this point (60k at each of those), but they're both lower ranked, so a nice chunk from Hastings or an acceptance to USC would be great. But again, don't think that's going to happen before April 15.

USD and LLS are now tied at 68. Pepp is now 61. USD had more 2011 grads employed. I'd be cautious with throwing around rank and even employment data, as it's kind of a sensitive subject right now, but I think they'll play ball with you. They know what we know.

Great points. I've heard that Loyola responds with a generic "our policy is not to match scholarship offers with other schools", so perhaps trying to leverage isn't the right approach at all? Anybody have any experience/thoughts on this?

Just withdrew with 90k... hopefully that frees up $$ for one of you!

For what it's worth, my boss went to LLS and was able to negotiate up to a full ride by leveraging acceptances from UCLA/USC, so it has been done. This was 5+ years ago, though.

Emailed yesterday! Don't have my hopes up too much, but wouldn't attend with their current offer so I have the best leverage: nothing to lose!

...also crickets from USC here. Wish I had an offer from them, would make great leverage.

Hey guys, total noob to the forums but a longtime lurker and just had a quick question. My app for Loyola went complete on 12/20, a little over 3 months ago. I still haven't heard anything from them (besides those heart-stopping "application follow ups"). I basically have 2 questions:

1) Is such a long period of silence a bad omen?
2) Is it poor form to call / email and politely inquire as to the status of my application?

Im pretty anxious as Loyola is one of my top choices. Any feedback would be appreciated.

BTW stats are 160 / 3.32 GPA from Vanderbilt Univ.

Not yet - Just trying to narrow it all down. I applied to 32 (I think) schools so I have to weed through them all. LLS is a good school in my eyes but they wouldn't up the offer despite better offers from nearly every school I got into.

Anyone who lives in LA get a LLS westside meet and greet reception email? My friend got it but I didnt and we are both admitted with scholarships. Also didnt get an email about the Scholarship reception should I be worried?

I've went from 90 to 100% sure I will be attending Loyola in the Fall for the 3-year day program.

I put in my first deposit a week or two ago because there was a high likelihood that I would attend, and I figured that I wouldn't mind losing the $300 if I had decided to change my mind.


Can't wait for June to start really looking for available housing options!

Haven't gotten my acceptance packet on the east coast yet, but got a congratulatory email saying to check out the Facebook page etc. They told me to call if I haven't gotten my packet, so I'll be calling tomorrow haha.

So I guess I'm in! Waiting for packet to see the money situation, but pretty sure I will be attending!
