Their law building is pretty gloomy anyway- I wouldn't be that upset about it. That being said, I would still appreciate anyone planning on withdrawing to do so ASAP so I can get off this damn WL.

I was waitlisted weeks ago, however my parents received a letter from the Office of Student Accounts addressed to "Dear Chapel Hill Family" and had all sorts of payment options and ways to pay tuition. Did any other waitlist students get this or should I call and tell the school there is a mistake?

That's weird, I don't remember my parents getting anything. That sounds more like an undergrad acceptance..

Unless the school changed their process, that does not sound like something they would do. I would call them and make sure it is not some kind of scam, or mix-up.

Anyone have any idea of when UNC starts to pull from the pool of waitlist candidates if at all? Anyone here from last year’s class that could weigh in on when they got off the waitlist last cycle?

Following each deposit date. There is one in May and one in June, so look for WL movement then. After that, they will use the WL as needed if people drop before law school starts. Some people have gotten in as late as a couple of days before the first day of class. My advice to you is to set a date in your head that you are willing to wait until based on your personal situation.

Thanks, y'all! 162/3.1, IS. Not quite non-traditional, but pretty far from fresh out of undergrad.

IN off the waitlist by e-mail about half an hour ago!
163/2.9 OOS non-urm hispanic male.
This has fucking fucked my entire world over...I already signed a lease in Illinois and UIUC is offering me a 75% OOS scholarship, but I'd be lying through my teeth if I said that UNC hasn't been my number 1 choice this whole application process. In fact, safe to say UNC is my dream school and has been since high school. I still remember how crushed I was the day I received the rejection letter to my undergrad application.
Fuck.
Does anyone have any advice? Am I being ridiculous for even considering UNC OOS sticker over UIUC's offer? Could I possibly negotiate something out of UNC?
Fucking fuck!
Where is the best, most reliable place to go to look up employment prospects? Law school transparency?
Fuck.

I'm just an 0L so I defer to the law school veterans around here, but my strong impression is that you be making a mistake to think in terms of "dream schools" when it comes to the law. You need to figure out where you would be happy/satisfied with practicing after law school -- if the answer is North Carolina, or I guess maybe the South more generally, then UNC. If it's Illinois or that area of the Midwest, then UIUC.
I say that as someone who had the EXACT same reaction when I got my undergrad rejection from Carolina. I know exactly the pull that Carolina has -- but this is a life decision you're on the verge of making here, and you need to think strategically and not emotionally. Good luck!

0L here. First take a breath ... you have a problem that most kids would dream of having so things could be worse. That being said I agree with Yossarian79 that you need to think strategically here BUT you cannot put a price on happiness. If Carolina is truly where you want to go because of the education you receive and the employment opportunities it carries than no dollar amount should stop you from coming. If you want to go to Carolina because you like there sports teams and you think you look good in baby blue then reassess your reason for attending ... you can be a sports fan wherever you are! If money is the only issue here then ask Carolina for money ... what is the worst that could happen? Good luck in your decision!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
