I'm guessing Stanford and other schools do this every year, but they wouldn't if they were inundated with applications.

*sigh* Stanford, why do you have to look elsewhere? Why can't you see that what you are looking for his right under your nose? I know a lot of us aren't perfect, but our love is unconditional; we didn't need inducements. Just a smile or status update would make our day in ways those others will never comprehend.

If you're worried then I guess I really should be (170/4.03) though I wasn't really expecting much either so the wait hasn't been too bad

I got in a little more than a week ago, and I went complete in October. I wouldn't worry too much yet, though I definitely understand how you feel.

Are you guys receiving fee waivers or applications to apply for fee waivers? Either way it's encouraging but I'm fairly certain they only give need based waivers.

I've received two invites to apply with few waivers this week - one from Harvard and one from Stanford? My stats are below median for both but I'm URM with strong softs. What are your thoughts on these fee waivers this late in the cycle? Are the schools just trying to increase their applicant numbers? Should I apply?

I am actually a huge Stanford Cardinal fan. It was my dream school for undergrad, applied and was rejected. Have been following Stanford sports since I was like 10, very hard for an east coaster.

I do not think that they will be that bad without Luck. Obv his loss is large, but they have been recruiting well and have a lot of talent on the team

Stanford is one of the schools that doesn't offer merit based aid, only need based, so we won't know anything about money until all of the FAFSA and Need Access stuff gets filed...which I'm not looking forward to. You can read more about financial aid on their website, there's a formula for how much they consider family contribution, etc.

I am ALSO not looking forward to this. I’m 22 right now and will only be 25 when I graduate law school. Stanford uses parental information until age 29 or something, so I’m screwed throughout.

Also, my parents are separated and FAFSA will only let me submit info for one of them, so I have no idea which one I'm supposed to choose.

The poorer one (jk). The average grant at Stanford is like 25k per year (!!!). Unless your parents are quite wealthy (the New York Times recently wrote that Harvard considers like 120-150k per year middle class, and Harvard is a peer) I think finaid will be cool.

Wow! That figure makes me extra hopeful about my chances at significant need-based aid at Harvard.

A word to assuage people who applied earlier and haven't heard back -- Stanford is much less systematic about going by completion date than some schools. I'm at SLS now, and I applied very late (late December) and was in by early February. Many people I know applied earlier and got in later. So it's not that you are destined for WL/Deny if people who applied later than you have been accepted.

I wanted to repeat this post. I'm another 1L at SLS and, based upon conversations with other 1Ls, it is hard to see a strict pattern based upon completion date. Many SLS decisions come in March/April even for those with very impressive backgrounds and numbers.

Good luck to all and I'd be happy to answer any questions in the thread or via pm. I didn't think I'd come to SLS even if I got in but once I got the call it felt perfect. My experience first quarter has only underlined how lucky I was to get the call. And try not to obsess about admissions, there is life to be lived and tracking LSN/TLS won't affect the outcome (easier said then done, I know).

I have not been following this thread at all. Can someone please give me a primer on the status of SLS decisions. I applied RD in mid September. LSP has me as clean "admit" once factoring in URM status. No response back and no movement on my status checker since "Application submitted for review" in late september.

Any insight would be appreciated.

LSP is less useful for black box/holistic schools like Yale and Stanford so being listed as 'admit' on LSP isn't necessarily a guarantee that you'll get in (though, obviously, it's not a bad sign). So far this cycle, Stanford has been trickling in a few admits at a time (with the biggest bunch coming the first week in January) and it appears they're going in order of completion date with early November being the latest completion date to yield admits thus far. However, based on past history, it seems like Stanford is less rigid about making decisions in order of completion date than most other schools and that some people who submit in September get in in December while others get in in April. Stanford's status checker doesn't update after you go under review, so unfortunately, you're going to have to just sit tight for a while. Good luck!

ETA: Looking at LSN decisions from past years and the decision graph in the first post of this thread can give you a good idea about Stanford's timeline.
