So, if this factors into your decision, SMU has the most ungodly annoying tornado warning system in the history of everything.

As someone who grew up in Dallas, you get used to it. And, it's worth it to be safer than sorry.kalvano wrote:So, if this factors into your decision, SMU has the most ungodly annoying tornado warning system in the history of everything.

No, you don't understand. They have a pre-recorded announcement, complete with horrendous feedback, that plays over and over again at a volume level only slightly less loud than a Judas Priest concert, combined with warning sirens that can be heard in London, making them think the Germans are coming again.sandlot wrote:As someone who grew up in Dallas, you get used to it. Baylor admissions accidentally sent out an excel spreadsheet containing everything but the social security numbers of every student thy have accepted this cycle. At least SMU admissions has that going for them.

I think it doesn't have people who have already paid their deposits. Also those who previously withdrew might have been able to keep all of their information private.bringyourlunch wrote:Baylor admissions accidentally sent out an excel spreadsheet containing everything but the social security numbers of every student thy have accepted this cycle. Not to mention alternating emails, warning us to seek shelter and then alerting us to "stop sheltering," every six minutes. Seriously. Seven emails. And each email gets a text warning, too. My phone was going off like crazy.kalvano wrote:No, you don't understand. In PT with 10k a year. I am disappointed but not surprised.
They accepted me via voicemail and said absolutely nothing about FT. Does this mean I'm denied or waitlisted?

I haven't heard of someone being accepted to both...did they give you a number to call back?Titleist wrote:In PT with 10k a year. I am disappointed but not surprised.

Your status changed about the same time as mine. Is it updated now?

Why wouldn't they accept someone to both if they applied for both and met both criteria?
/not saying I meet FT criteria- just saying.

Re: SMU 2012
Because if the accept you to both that means that even if you choose to go to SMU they're getting one yes and one no, and the no, as stupid as it sounds, hurts their selectivity ranking and percentages. I think.Titleist wrote: Yeah.

And I'll say this, even as a FT student, there are definite perks and drawbacks to being a PT student. A lot of us are jealous that they have half as many finals and (seemingly) more time to study. I'm friends with a few 2Es and they all say "I don't know how you do it, having five finals would be miserable." But obviously read more of the posts from evening students to get a better grip on what the program is actually like.
Does not getting into the FT program knock SMU out of the running for you?

Re: SMU 2012
Yeah, I would not go to PT.
It would be cheaper to go to UH FT or significantly cheaper to go to Baylor FT.
SMU FT was my top choice, if I would have known they only accept you to one of the programs I would not have applied to PT.

Why apply to PT at all, then? Just for safety in case you didn't get into UH or Baylor?Titleist wrote:Yeah, I would not go to PT.

In via status checker. SMU is now my in-state option. Emory is my top choice (and $) of those to which I've been admitted.
SMU vs. Emory
WL: UWash, WashU
Still waiting to hear: UCLA, UC-Davis, Hastings, UMinn

To be fair, there were multiple tornados running around aimlessly tearing stuff up. As someone who has a very firm No Getting Sucked Up In Tornados policy I felt somewhat comforted by the comically redundant and indecisive warnings.swilson215 wrote:Not to mention alternating emails, warning us to seek shelter and then alerting us to "stop sheltering," every six minutes. Okay, fair enough. I guess I should have been more worried than I was. My dog looks a LOT like Toto and I own at least four pairs of red shoes.fathergoose wrote: To be fair, there were multiple tornados running around aimlessly tearing stuff up. On another note, congrats to everyone who got good news today, and I'm sorry to hear that PT is out for you, Titleist. If anyone has any questions I know that ClutchCity and I are reppin' the 1Ls, and there are a ton of helpful 2Ls and 3Ls on here. Good luck to everyone still waiting. It's a sucky game, I know...

Me too, although mine outright said that it was FT. (I applied for both, btw.)April Ludgate wrote:Just admitted via status checker! I'm assuming for FT. No call yet.
