Yeah, Casabella is a great location. I've never seen the interiors. Not too far from there is Picadilly, which, as of a year ago had amazing pricesjr1886 wrote:For housing, I heard Casabella is pretty good but pricey. I never lived there so take this with a grain of salt.
I, however, lived a t Lexington Crossing for Undergrad---10 minutes from the law School. It's cheap, and spacious. Yet, I don't think a law student should live there. Too many undergrads and patries. If I get to go to UF for Law, i would probably live at Casabella.LmaoWithout those[UF + services], it[Gainesville] would be a big cow field.

Pros: Small town feel of Gville, reputation of UF through FL, seems like a decent place to live. I really like the law faculty from who I've met.kwais wrote:What are your pros and cons for UF?Barbie wrote:Bummer!! Cons: I HATE Florida weather x1000 (and this year being 86 degrees on Nov. 30th isn't helping). I'm afraid its very gunnerish. I DON'T CARE ABOUT COLLEGE FOOTBALL and I hate big crowds (tailgate-game days). I'm afraid I'll have 10k undergrads forced down my throat because thats the majority of people who live there. Not really a "young adult" environment as much as a "drunk college kid" environment.
The cons are a lot of speculation from the few times I've visited. I'm going to have to spend a long weekend there or half a week hopefully getting to know and talk to students/ surrounding area to see what I really think.

Your speculative cons are somewhat on point. Although I will say, I stopped participating in the "drunk college kid" environment about a year ago, and I felt that it was easy to avoid. The weather is indeed horrendous. Especially if you are not from Florida (like me) and you thought that Florida weather = Miami weather. Not the case.Barbie wrote:Pros: Small town feel of Gville, reputation of UF through FL, seems like a decent place to live. On game day, nearly impossible to avoid the crowds.
Other than that, it is a good place to learn (not live permanently) and you can't beat the cost.

So I guess this is a dumb question but how is the weather different from Miami? I'm from the northeast and have lived in S. Florida the past couple years... it can't be that much different in Gainesville can it?

inland florida = less breeze, but just as much swampy humidity.hurricane10 wrote:So I guess this is a dumb question but how is the weather different from Miami? I'm from the northeast and have lived in S. Florida the past couple years... it can't be that much different in Gainesville can it?

It's also a lot colder in the winter...though that probably won't be a problem for you if you're from the northeast.minuit wrote:inland florida = less breeze, but just as much swampy humidity.hurricane10 wrote:So I guess this is a dumb question but how is the weather different from Miami? I'm from the Northeast too and this might sound weird but the cold in Gainesville is much more annoying to me than it was in Rhode Island. Here, the houses lack insulation, it feels weird to wear the right clothing and Jan-March just feels cold. I lived in South Florida too and it was nothing like this. Those amazing 75 degree days with a breeze happen about 15 times per year. Otherwise, it goes from a high of 63 to a high of 98 in about one week. That one week is called spring.

On the LSAT score data for the report, the last column says index. Let me know the accuracy.Barbie wrote:Where are you seeing these? I can't find it on LSAC. Yours is of a few tenths from the ones Barbie listed? Or a few tenths from a self-calculated index?govorett wrote:Off by like a few tenths of a point for me. Mine is only a few hundredths off the ones Barbie gave. Which makes me feel like, if they're accurate, than I can have a bit of hope.
