Re: In at Berkeley Law!
Yea.. Im not sure if this is a kosher thing to do.. but any of you mind sending me some of the application/PS tips that you used to get admitted(i.e. what did you emphasize in your ps, why berk, etc.). Im not applying until next cycle but Berkeley is definitely my top choice. Im a black male and I have 75% LSAT numbers(177 high LSAT, 171 average) but Im a little worried about my gpa, 3.55-3.65 barring academic breakdown Spring semester, holding me back. If any of you could PM some tips it would be greatly appreciated!!! I plan on having my recommendations together before the end of spring semester and my PS done over the summer so I can get my app out the day it is available.

3.69 here. I have a very strong upward trend, though. I think they cut me some slack on the GPA as a result.Has anyone with 3.6x gotten in? Have any advice?
I think I'm putting together a decent application because I think I've got a decent diversity statement and I'm making it abundantly clear to them that they're my #1, but I still think I've got a ~5% chance.

Dude are you kidding? You'll get into Boalt for sure, but you should be looking at HYS and/or Hamilton at CLS/Darrow at Michigan, etc.tkgrrett wrote:Yea.. I was notified I was accepted via call from Dean Tom on December 17. My status checker still says "Your file is under review," and I haven't received anything in the mail. It's kind of unsettling having no tangible evidence of having been admitted if you know what I mean. Is this normal? When should I start worrying?

Re: In at Berkeley Law!
Lol, I did the same thing. Although in retrospect I’m not sure how many different ways, “congratulations you’ve been accepted into Berkeley law,” can be taken.
I’m planning on booking my plane trip tomorrow as per the instructions on the admitted student’s website, looking forward to seeing some TLSers there. Has any one taken a look at the financial aid section of the website? They have a great compilation of various scholarships that are offered both nationwide and to the Bay Area in particular. It’s an awesome resource even if you don’t end up at Berkeley.
To answer your question jimmy, I would give it until Thursday or Friday of next week and then call to find out if there was any hold up. Remember, the holiday break has almost definitely extended the mailing dates.

How strong was your trend? I have a fairly significant one (+.15 a year on average, plus i transferred to a much harder school). I'm hoping they cut me some slack based on the trend. My UG is also one of the supposed UGs they used to give a boost to (http://web.archive.org/web/200008290949 ... adeadj.htm) but I don't think that really means anything anymore.

This is kind of embarrassing, but does anyone know what to do if you forgot your CalNet passphrase and you want to access the Admitted Students site? I called the Cal1Card office and was told I needed a student ID to reset the passphrase--I obviously don't have one of those. Tried the registrar earlier today but I was put on hold for 20 minutes and then again for another 10 minutes. I think the person who picked up my call forgot I was on the other line.

I'd try emailing the law school; let them know that the Cal1Card office wanted a student ID to reset the passphrase. I bet someone will help you out.

Re: In at Berkeley Law!
You're going to have to fax them a copy of your DL, your Calnet ID #, DOB, and I think something else. Then they'll email you a "token" for you to use to log-in and change your password. Just call them and they should provide you with directions.Eigenvalue A wrote:This is kind of embarrassing, but does anyone know what to do if you forgot your CalNet passphrase and you want to access the Admitted Students site? same boat. Dean Tom specifically said the packet would not be mailed until after the Holiday Break (I think he said they would be sent out on the 11th). Don't worry, it's coming.jimmyd11011 wrote:I was notified I was accepted via call from Dean Tom on December 17. I was admitted by e-mail on the Dec 16th, and I got my packet a few weeks ago, it was before Christmas.

Quick question. For those of you who have been accepted, when did you get your applications in?
