Sorry, I read through the thread before my own acceptance (and am now subscribed). I forgot it was there. I FAIL.

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
Is anyone else anxiously awaiting their admit packet, and more importantly, anxiously awaiting the thin white envelope that apparently states the scholarship offer?
I don't know what is worse with these schools, knowing you are in and waiting for the scholarship offer or just waiting an extra four days to get it all together.

Just got a nice email from the Chair of the Admissions committee. I like being in the phase where the schools court you instead of the other way around.
To those still waiting for acceptances, hang in there and here is to hoping for good news.

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
So I got this today:
The Admissions Committee has made an initial review of your application; however, a final decision was not made. This result is not uncommon. As of now, you are awaiting a second review. The Admissions Committee is constantly re-reviewing those without final decisions; however, it is hard to say when you will go for a second review. Unfortunately, the best thing we can tell you at this time is that the Admissions Committee hopes to have all decisions made by April 1. But please feel free to check back at any time for an update on the status of your application.
4.0/158 (retaking tomorrow)

Most likely because you are retaking tomorrow. Destroy that test and I am sure you will have no problems.

+1. Just got that same e-mail Cy. Being a person who may not get into a T20 school, it feels very nice to have a school in the T30 court you, even if they are doing it to all of their acceptances.CyLaw wrote:Just got a nice email from the Chair of the Admissions committee. I agree - up until I was admitted, I felt that Iowa was pretty cold (in demeanor rather than weather) and factory-like. Their warm emails have kind of changed my mind. I may consider them, if I get a great scholarship offer!

That's the first time I've ever heard that about us Iowans, usually I hear the opposite!Halibut6 wrote:I agree - up until I was admitted, I felt that Iowa was pretty cold (in demeanor rather than weather) and factory-like. I meant the law school, rather than the university or the state as a whole.
I grew up in Illinois, and I have been to Iowa (the state) and have nothing but good experiences, I suppose.

Ahhh, gotcha, misunderstood that. Yeah, they're generally pretty warm, in the encounters I've had with them at least.

Received the admission "package" in the mail today. A cold letter and barely congratulatory letter from the Assistant Provost and health insurance information. No mention of scholarship money, the process, etc. Should I assume that this is an indication that no money will becoming or hold out for the golden paper clip?
Damn. Disappointed.

MrsTrucker: In the letter, it seems to imply that scholarships will come later...or maybe that is my own delusions. Could be, I have been known to have those from time to time.RMstratosphere wrote:Received the admission "package" in the mail today. +1 on both fronts. Cold letter received today, my understanding is scholarship money is a few days behind.TruckerD wrote:MrsTrucker: In the letter, it seems to imply that scholarships will come later...or maybe that is my own delusions.
