That's pretty interesting, since the actual full ride ED accepts are so limited, but other people are sort of considered ED anyway.xanderdellus wrote:I saw several people on previous year threads that were accepted RD the same day they were rejected ED.softey wrote:they get 950 apps for ED--accept 30
That probably made no sense, this waiting process is ruining my brain.

Sent my app in 11/24, got a received email 11/25, got an application complete email 12/3. Applied for the PT program only and I really, really want to get in. 169/3.2 and already have a job/live in the DC area so I think I have a good shot at it, hate playing the waiting game right now haha.

Did you apply PT because you want to keep your job or because of your numbers? I am 169/3.2 and I applied for the full time program only.afische3 wrote:Sent my app in 11/24, got a received email 11/25, got an application complete email 12/3. I just switched my app to early decision today after getting the ding from Georgetown, and I was told that they are sending decisions in the last two weeks of Dec., if anyone is interested.

I wanted to keep my job for at least another year and then transfer into full time solely bc of money. Im somewhat confident with my numbers for gwu but who knows with all the stuff thats been going with other schools this cycle.
I applied to g-town pt, not optimistic about my chances there right now but Ill keep my fingers crossed.

Question: Who is sending out desicions in the last two weeks of Dec? Last cycle, it looks on LSN like they notified everyone ON January 15. Any ideas about how they send out decisions?

Oh, I'm not sure then. I called the admissions office to switch my app to early decision and I asked her when she thought that ED apps would be receiving decisions, and she said, "probably in the last two weeks of this month."Shopalot86 wrote:jk11287 wrote:Did you apply PT because you want to keep your job or because of your numbers? Actually the people notified on Jan 15 were deferred to RD and then Accepted all in the same day.Shopalot86 wrote: Question: Who is sending out desicions in the last two weeks of Dec? Last cycle, it looks on LSN like they notified everyone ON January 15. Any ideas about how they send out decisions?
The people accepted via ED with scholarship were notified it appears at the end of December.

Right, but the overwhelming majority of ED applicants found out on the 15th? Or so it looks.

That would make sense, since the overwhelming majority of ED applicants were deferred to RD.Shopalot86 wrote:Right, but the overwhelming majority of ED applicants found out on the 15th? Or so it looks.
Edit: But no school this app cycle seems to be doing what they normally do. See Cornell and Berkeley threads.

Re: The George Washington Law School 2010
Just read about GW's ED program, I think my GPA is too low to have a legitimate shot, but thinking now about applying ED because GW's location is great for me and if they came through with a big scholarship for RD I'd be happy going there.
So now the only problem is figuring out how to shave my standard essay down to 500 words. Right now it's about 900, so I'm sure what to do. 500 words is about 1-page double spaced, right? Man, that is brief.

First of all, I'm not advocating this, but I know that my personal statement was way longer than that and they didn't mention anything to me...so I'm assuming its ok. Unless they're just planning on reading the first 500 words and stopping, which would suck.
What are your numbers? Are you a splitter? It looks like the range of ED accepted apps last year was pretty broad..

GODDAMN TEASES!
I got my mail today and there was an oversized envelope from GW. I got all excited, then found out it was just another brochure.

Re: The George Washington Law School 2010
Hmm, that's tempting just to send in my standard 2-page PS. I'd essentially have to rewrite it otherwise, and definitely don't want to do that right now. If I could crunch together the 300 and 500 word essays I'd be okay.jk11287 wrote:First of all, I'm not advocating this, but I know that my personal statement was way longer than that and they didn't mention anything to me...so I'm assuming its ok. Anyway, yeah, I'm just below their 25th percentile GPA and a good bit above their 75th percentile LSAT. I wonder are people much less likely to get aid RD as ED?

I don't actually know the answer to that question, but I sort of assumed that since they give all of their ED acceptances a full ride, they'd have less to distribute elsewhere. Not sure though.

Is there a status checker for GW? Why don't they have one.
BTW, Seton Hall did the same thing to me. Thick envelope that had a letter beginning with the words "I am happy...." turns out, they were congratulating me on APPLYING. Still not as cruel as what GW did to you since it's a much better school.

Yeah, they don't have one. Which kind of sucks, but is kind of good anyway because there's nothing to contribute to mass hysteria/constantly refreshing the page every 23 seconds. From what I've heard, GW doesn't really send out decisions under after the new year anyway.Shopalot86 wrote:Is there a status checker for GW? Why don't they have one.

Well, since I already applied, and they don't give fee waivers, I am going to take their continued interest as a good sign.

I feel your pain. I am in the lib writing my final paper for one of my classes. Text comes in from my mom....you got a huge packet from GWASH. My heart began to race. I was ready to pack up my things, say f*** it and go to the bar.
....like you it was the ultimate tease...I haven't been teased like this since high school

Same. All of the mail goes to my house out of state. The GW envelope was very confusing to my poor non-English speaking grandmother. Thank you GWU.bluejayk wrote:kalvano wrote:GODDAMN TEASES!

Now I'm getting nervous, I have a 163/3.65 and I applied for the PT program only. I'm worried I have no chance now this cycle....
