TITCR, unless you have some incredible predictive ability known only to a fraction of a percent of the general population.

Got the packet over the weekend...also got the out-of-state full-tuition scholarship.
Probably not going to take it as I only applied because of the fee-waiver. Still exciting none-the-less. Guess I'll weigh my options when the wave of decisions come in late Jan/Feb.

I think we likely have pretty similar numbers if we got the same scholarship package.DrGuano wrote:Got the packet over the weekend...also got the out-of-state full-tuition scholarship.

What makes you less likely to take the full-ride? In this economy, it seems hard to justify taking any school (baring T6) over a full-ride at a slightly over-ranked T25 Indiana. That 20-30 percent chance (from the fringe T14 to T20) at biglaw doesn't seem to be worth the 150k pricetag.

I already work at a big law firm in NYC. The paralegal program here has an excellent retention rate for those that go T14/Fordham, where I've already been admitted. Indiana doesn't seem to hold any water at any of the big firms in NY. I'd like to have the experience to start my career before venturing forward. I've seen firsthand from many associates how many doors are open to you once you've got a place like this firm on your resume.BiteyTLS wrote:I think we likely have pretty similar numbers if we got the same scholarship package.DrGuano wrote:Got the packet over the weekend...also got the out-of-state full-tuition scholarship.

Granted its still money spent, I wouldn't be shouldering the debt thanks to help from parents and money saved from my time spent working.

So when I went to pull my acceptance letter out I realized they glued it to the folder and it ripped. -1 Indiana
Then I realized they put a picture of the Little Indy on a brochure. +1 Indiana
Carry on.

Boy, would I love to have parents like that. Especially considering Fordham is something like 70k a year (including the cost of living in NY). I sure hope that paralegal program carries water, because Fordham biglaw chances are sinking ever lower with the economy and the new law market.DrGuano wrote:I already work at a big law firm in NYC. Based on what?[/quote]
1) BigLaw hiring as a whole is way down. And when they are hiring, they are going deeper into T14 classes. Niche Schools like Fordham are getting slammed: --LinkRemoved-- --LinkRemoved--
2) Fordham is in major decline rankings wise. Went from something like T20 to a T35 over the last several years.
Just seems like 210k is heavy price to pay for a 15 percent chance at big law.

Re: In at IU-Bloomington!!!!
I work in one of the top firms in NYC and we draw HEAVILY from T14 schools. Fordham is right in the middle of things. Top 2 are Columbia, NYU...then Harvard, Yale, Stanford in that order...6 - 10 schools have the same average number of associates incoming each year for the past 5 years (6 incoming associates) Cornell, Berkeley, Fordham, and Michigan.
Within NY Fordham's recruiting may have slipped with the crunch, but is still in line with the rest of the schools. Fordham's slide in the rankings hurts its image outside of NY but not so much in NY.

Re: In at IU-Bloomington!!!!
I just got an acceptance package. Its very professional, personalized, and impressive. If I hadn't gotten into Northwestern I would have considered it.
But I'm withdrawing. So there is another spot available and 10K per year scholarship money.

It doesn't say anything about a GPA requirement in the hard copy or online. I'll have to call and ask.
