Re: In at Santa Clara!!
How long has it been for people who were admitted between when they moved to "in committee" to a decision? Just curious. Any thoughts on my shots of getting in? I submitted my app EA and I am 164/3.52.

I think you have a great shot at getting in. Your LSAT is pretty high for Santa Clara. Good luck.

I agree--your numbers seem fairly in-line with those who have already gotten in this cycle.
I have been "in committee" since 11/03 (though with lower numbers than yours) and today my status finally refreshed, though it still says "in committee" just with today's date as the date of status.

I'm in the exact same situation, dates and all. This thread is not doing much to alleviate my anxiety, haha.anothernancydrew wrote:I agree--your numbers seem fairly in-line with those who have already gotten in this cycle.

"Decision Mailed" via status checker - 11/16!
And, it has information about when deposits are due. Assuming this means I was accepted??

"Hold for 2nd Review"
I'm assuming I'm waitlisted?

Dude, you have a 3.4/171. I wouldn't worry about it.bazoogakitty wrote:"Decision Mailed" via status checker - 11/16!

Same thing here, much to my disappointment. I think we're deferred to the "Regular" pool of applications.SpencerPratt wrote:"Hold for 2nd Review"

I'm hoping we got deferred to the regular pool, at least, and not waitlisted.

Deferred would mean that they won't give you a decision my the EA date, but will defer you to a later pool of decisions.km23 wrote:Do you think that's better than being waitlisted? I am not really sure on the difference between the two (sorry new at this!).
Waitlisted is being waitlisted.

I wonder, does anyone know if allowing the Special Admissions Council (or whatever that student group is called for under represented students in law) to also review your app results in a slower decision? Did anyone else check that box and answer the additional questions?

Re: In at Santa Clara!!
Defered to regular admission basically means that you were not good enough to admitt without seeing the rest of the applicants, maybe your numbers are on the lower end or your softs were just so-so, but they are pretty sure you could stack up well against others in the regular admission cycle.km23 wrote:Do you think that's better than being waitlisted? Waitlisted basically means they are confident that there will be better options in the regular admission cycle, however you are still within their range for numbers so they want the option to come back to you if people who they accept do not choose to attend.
As long as you are not flat out rejected, it still means you have a chance.

I'm curious, what are the numbers for people being held for 2nd review?
Oh, and I didn't check the special admissions policy, yet we both had our status date refresh yesterday.

Re: In at Santa Clara!!
I met a SCU representative at a Law School fair a few weeks ago and she said that there is no such things as having your app transferred from EA to regular admissions. An EA applicant simply has the privilege for knowing sooner than later of their outcome. There is only Accepted, Denied, or waitlisted. If it says that it is on hold for second review I would actually take it as a good sign because it means you are not rejected yet and they simply need to check your app again before they make their choice, or that you are waitlisted, which is better than a denial...

LOL Basically, don't take it to mean anything 'til something more concrete happens. No point in stressing it.

Re: In at Santa Clara!!
159/3.15, I did check the Special Admissions Policy and submitted the questionnaire for that. I'm getting mixed responses, some people are saying we're just deferred to the regular pool, others are saying we got wait listed. I guess my view is that if we were wait listed it would say something to that effect.cyberPUNK wrote:I'm curious, what are the numbers for people being held for 2nd review?

Re: In at Santa Clara!!
I got the same "held for 2nd review"
Under mailings it says:
Mail Description Mailing Date
Early Decision Letter 11/16/2009
Email - Application Complete 11/02/2009
Email - Application Received 10/19/2009
3.67/157... guessing because my LSAT wasn't great they are admitting students with high numbers from the first round. hoping I have a better chance under the "2nd review"
I'm nervous the letter they mailed on 11/16 is going to say something about being considered with the regular pool of applicants (and having to wait much longer for a decision)
