Wow, congrats on the Mich acceptances! That's really awesome.
When you're pushing a 4.0, though, you're really a whole new breed of "reverse-splitter." Apps with such exceptionally high GPAs are surely read in a different light.
Great job!

Re: Reverse-Splitters Unite! - The 2010 Reverse-Splitter Thread
thanks a lot ronde, but often when going through the chances forum, mid-160 threads are often told they dont have a chance at the T14...i meant 170 figuratively, im well aware 167s+ are well represented at all those schoolsrondemarino wrote:Dude, absolutely no one says this, or at least believes this. Over half the students enrolled at Duke, Michigan and Berkeley have scores below 170. With a high GPA, you always had a shot (sealed with ED), and I doubt anyone who isn't an idiot thinks otherwise. You're in a Michigan. Enjoy it.bighead715 wrote:me too - 164/3.98snickersnicker wrote:Yup. In at Michigan yesterday, 166/3.99.ViP wrote:Any news from reverse-splitters yet? reverse splitters can hit the T10 despite the trolls that say only 170s can...
Congrats, BTW.
p.s: The T14 is enough of an artificial construct, but we also have have HYS and the T6. The T10 now?
i was told specifically i was probably not even going to WL at michigan let alone accepted so you see my
granted theres always a small chance for anyone, the prevalent mood on this site is that for these schools, anything less than a 170 is mediocre at best...im also referring to the atmosphere where anything outside the T14 is considered TTT...then again that feeling can just come from the fact that the posts in my memory are just rather obnoxious trolls that stick out and could be a small percentage of the posters here as i know for the most part everyone on here is supportive (as you are)
as for the T10 - who knows, who cares, just another construct as u pointed out

Congrats to my reverse-splitters hearing good news. I got into UIUC ED with a 3.86 and a 156 a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. Hope more good news awaits the rest of you as your cycles play out.

Not that it helps, but just wanted to throw in my two-cents here that I think the people posting on this thread are the ones who really deserve places at the top schools. As someone who will probably be in the traditional splitter camp, I've always had a great deal of respect for people who can maintain your great gpas throughout college. Four years of consistent dedicated work means infinitely more than doing well on one exam. You had to do well on dozens and dozens of exams, whereas the others did well on one particular exam. Though the system happens to favor my situation, I think that it is profoundly unfair. Anyway, good luck!

Anyone else with an LSAT score below the 25th percentile for T1 schools still applying to them anyway? Just curious how confident you guys feel about that.
I've got a great GPA.... but still shooting for the moon with my LSAT.

I also just got accepted at Michigan. I have a 3.8 / 164. Numbers may play an important role in the admissions process but they are not everything. Also, as the above posters mentioned, a high GPA will certainly get you a closer look. The one thing that I can say is that putting a lot of time into your application and showing the adcomms that you are what they are looking for is worth five points on the LSAT any day. Good luck to my fellow R.S. keep posting those acceptances.

This is me. If a school does not have a hard documented LSAT cut-off, then I am applying. No reason I can't be "the one exception" this cycle. Good luck everyone.fidesverita wrote:Anyone else with an LSAT score below the 25th percentile for T1 schools still applying to them anyway? Just curious how confident you guys feel about that.

I've applied to numerous schools where this is the case. All you need is one.fidesverita wrote:Anyone else with an LSAT score below the 25th percentile for T1 schools still applying to them anyway? Just curious how confident you guys feel about that.

+1 ...I think at least half of the schools I applied to fall under this category.Mparty7441 wrote:I've applied to numerous schools where this is the case. That would be me....I applied to about 20 schools with the hope that at least one of the T1s takes me.Mparty7441 wrote:I've applied to numerous schools where this is the case. Re: Reverse-Splitters Unite! - The 2010 Reverse-Splitter Thread
Oh, this thread is surely my home too... 3.82/158.
Graduated in May. Retook LSAT in Sept. after repeating my prep course and basically taking the summer off... Practice tests in the 162-165 range... only to score lower with a 154. DEVASTATED.
Went to GWU undergrad and applied for ED, but who knows with their scholarship?? Its a far, far reach. Shooting for T-30 school, esp. love for Fordham (PT) and UNC.
Strong softs and LORs... Is there hope for me yet?? Should I risk another re-take in Feb?
P.S. Congrats and lookin' good on everyone's recent acceptances!!!
