This might be a dumb question but does anyone know if it's possible to negotiate a scholarship offer if I wasn't granted any? I was admitted with full rides to all lower-tier schools in NYC that I applied to (Hofstra, NYL, Pace) but wasn't offered a penny from Brooklyn. I know that's not exactly the best leverage to negotiate with but the idea of taking out +$150k in loans for Brooklyn doesn't sound too good.

Yea it's definitely possible. You're right that it's not the best leverage to negotiate, but it's still way better than nothing. Just write a good scholarship negotiation email, and I think you'll have a decent shot. They might not up their offer too much, but I think the worst thing you can do is not try negotiating at all

Can confirm pretty much everything you've said after attending ASD yesterday. Although on 'e', I think I heard the Dean say that his son was the comedian. Overall, pretty sold on BLS. Just hope their scholly negotation response will convince me too.

Can confirm pretty much everything you've said after attending ASD yesterday. Although on 'e', I think I heard the Dean say that his son was the comedian. Overall, pretty sold on BLS. Just hope their scholly negotation response will convince me too.

Currently in the process of doing that as well. It took like three emails to even get an acknowledgement that they were working on it, but supposedly they'll be getting back to me this week.

Yea, I haven't been hearing great things from the BLS financial/scholarship department. From the other admitted students I talked to yesterday, many of which were choosing between BLS and Cardozo, it seems that none of them received higher offers from BLS. I actually overheard someone say that she initially got the same offer from both schools and tried to negotiate; Dozo ended up bumping their offer by a bit, while BLS refused to budge. Ofc this is all anecdotal, but I'm not getting my hopes up

I've had success negotiating my scholarship offer and was bumped up to more than Cardozo (comparing tuition costs and COA my brooklyn offer is better). I received my bump only a week after I sent my negotiation email and I sent a renegotiation email over a week ago to see if I can get a bit more.

Attended the ASD yesterday -- the potential students, alum, and professors all seem to be genuine, friendly people. I definitely wasn't wowed by the facilities, but I wasn't expecting to be -- the building is older and could use some updating. That being said, I would rather they spend the money on providing a quality education and toward my scholarship increase than a shiny, new computer lab. The Brooklyn alum network seems to be vast and helpful with post-graduation employment, which is huge. I am still deciding between BLS and Fordham, but the scholarship and network is tough to turn down at BLS.

As for said scholarship increase, I negotiated mine successfully, resulting in a 33% increase. I sent the admissions counselor an update on the type of volunteer work I am involved in since I applied, and said that finances are frankly one of the important factors in my decision. I provided them with a competing school's scholarship offer, and a few weeks later they came back to me with a higher number.

My advice: Definitely try to negotiate, what do you have to lose?

I got the same sense that the alum is very helpful, but surprisingly there's no Facebook group or anything for new students to meet. I wish there was a little more camaraderie amongst the 0Ls, seeing all these other groups with students is making me jealous.

You can always be the one to make the FB group
I do think we'll see more camaraderie at the Skadden event though (assuming we choose BLS at that point) since everyone there should be matriculating at BLS.

According to their website the only cost savings would be your living expenses for a year. So depending on your situation it may or may not be a lot of money.

Did you hear back from scholarship negotiations yet? I heard back last Friday and their offer just barely beat Cardozo's, but that's all I needed to make a decision. I'm probably going to submit my seat deposit to Brooklyn sometime this week.
