Not really in my experience. Some people definitely have impressive prior work experience, and it's obviously important for the JD-MBA program, but I wouldn't worry about it much.proteinshake wrote:I know NU cares about work experience, but does it matter what kind of work experience it is? for some reason I keep picturing a typical NU student as having some cool high-skill job previous to enrolling.

the lack of pi/govt people: is it self-selected or a lack of institutional support? NU would definitely be on my radar, but those numbers are concerning.

Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
There's definitely been a big push for PI interest here, and the Pritzker donation has played a large role in helping to bolster that. I suppose NU doesn't have the historic reputation that say, NYU or Berkeley have, but I think there's plenty of opportunity and support for PI here. For example, one of the several new initiatives was increasing summer funding for 1Ls in qualifying PI/Govt positions to $8,000.guybourdin wrote:the lack of pi/govt people: is it self-selected or a lack of institutional support? They also are reorganizing all the PI resources into a PI Center, which you can read about here:

ETA - I'm sure there are 2/3Ls that can offer a LOT more detail about the PI scene here, but my overall point is that I wouldn't feel like you won't be supported in your goals here

good to hear! also for ED, what would you think the chances are for an applicant that is between the 25th and 50th for LSAT (very very close to median) and between 50th and 75th for GPA?urbanist11 wrote:Not really in my experience. Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Well, I can't really answer that for you since I don't know how exactly the admissions committee decides on ED candidates. I'd say it depends definitely where you fall on the gpa side for one thing. I'd probably peg your chances at not that great if I had to speculate, but if you are serious about going to NU it really can't hurt you to apply ED.proteinshake wrote:good to hear! also for ED, what would you think the chances are for an applicant that is between the 25th and 50th for LSAT (very very close to median) and between 50th and 75th for GPA?urbanist11 wrote:Not really in my experience. Hey, thanks for replying. I did get a fee waiver, so maybe I'll give the school a closer look. My family would love if I stayed in town! Which recommender did you put down in the LOR section? My current employer (Which I've seen the letter) or my professor (haven't seen)?

How did you prepare for the questions?TexasENG wrote:I think it was 5? Questions. Why Northwestern law? Time you failed and what you learned? Difficult time with a co-worker and how you resolved it? Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I did the online interview recently, 6 questions. One was of course Why Northwestern. The next-to-last asked if there was a question I had prepared for that was not asked, and if so, what was it and what did I have prepared. From what I remember the others were fairly typical: most stressful time, a time you did something for someone else over yourself, etc.
I had only specifically prepared for Why Law and Why Northwestern, but I had thought through some significant experiences that might apply to a variety of questions. This may be your best bet because it seemed like they have a rotation of questions for the online interviews.

Sorry if this question was previously asked... If I indicated on my app that I want to interview off campus and specified a city, I will be notified when I am matched with an interviewer? I want to make sure I'm not missing/forgetting to do something.

Does anyone know how I can attach an addendum to my submitted application? I looked on Northwestern's website and LSAC and couldn't find any info. Should I just email the Admissions Office?

Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
You cannot add anything to your application after you've submitted. However, I would think that you could e-mail admissions and have them add whatever you're trying to give them, to your file.flyeaglesfly wrote:Does anyone know how I can attach an addendum to my submitted application? I am planning on applying for ED and planning on doing an off campus interview. NU's website says off campus interviews for ED need to be requested by 10/15, but my application will not be ready by then. Can we only request an off campus interview through the application, or is there some alternative form?

Just email admissions and say you'd like to add something to your application. Shouldn't be a problem.flyeaglesfly wrote:Does anyone know how I can attach an addendum to my submitted application? I remember last year a question that caught me off guard was "describe a situation where you were in an adversarial position and how you dealt with it/describe your general philosophy for dealing with adversarial situations."warmcherrysoda wrote:What were the questions?TexasENG wrote: I did their online interview. Where did people attach their why Northwestern essays? In the optional essay or addendum section? If they attached it in the optional essay section, did they go over the two paragraph limit?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
