Has anyone called or reached out to admissions at all or know anyone who does and what happened? Can't help but wonder, is all

Considered it, but I'm afraid of that having negative consequences. Wisconsin put us out of our misery PLS!

I agree with you, consider it but feel it's too risky. I keep waking up thinking "maybe today will be the day!" One of them will be!

I heard someone emailed them inquiring the process of admission committee, and he got waitlisted next day. So waiting could be our safer choice.

I emailed them the week of the 1st. Said something along the lines of "I've got make a decision on a seat deposit on April 1. As I'm making my decision I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed any communication from Wisconsin on the status of my application. I assume a decision hasn't been made yet, but out of caution I feel compelled to verify this."

Something wordy and not pushy like that.

Got the acceptance the next day or the day after. Not sure if it had any impact or if it was just a coincidence.

My application wasn't complete until the middle of February. I guess that's relevant too.

Scholarship information came this week, which is after that April 1 deadline I was trying to beat. Fortunately one school revised up to a full scholarship and pushed the deadline back to the 15th, and another agreed to push it back to the 15th to reconsider my scholarship after they had the first round of deposits down.

Edit: I'm a splitter.
Thanks for sharing - your stats are awesome though so not surprised to hear of your acceptance. Congrats on all of the above!

Are all of you recent posters Wisconsin residents? I feel like only WI residents have UW as their top choice. Either way, it's a great school and I'm still waiting as well. I've already deposited at a top 20 but I would give UW very serious consideration if admitted.

I've lived in different large US city for a number of years but am originally from WI. It's an awesome school.

I'm born&raised Wisconsin resident. Would a LOCI be anything to consider at this point?

EmFocker,

I wrote them 3 LOCIS last year and it did very little. However, I'm not sure what their admissions strategy has been this year; a well written loci could definitely help.

Mukol,

Yes, I did deposit at Iowa. I toured the school and found no issues with it. I also saw the city, campus, and bar scene, and I really liked them all. With all of that said, though, I am still holding out for UW as I lived in Madison for 3 years and loved it. I also agree with you in that money is a major factor in deciding where to go. Who knows where we'll all end up. Good luck to you all!

Anyone know if there's any point in hoping for weekend decisions?

Does anyone have any info about how UW deals with their waitlist? How often/easy it is to get off, when to expect , etc...Any info would be greatly appreciated!

All I've really heard is that if an applicant gets added to the wait list UW "reserves the right to make a decision until the start of Fall class", said from a friend of mine who was placed on it last year.

I'm really failing to understand their strategy this year - seems like they are leaving a lot of qualified people hanging past other school's deposit deadlines.

What's stood out to me is that I, like I'm sure others, have thought "Man I hate myself for not sending my things in earlier" but many people who sent theirs in even a month before I did are still waiting as well
