It would be great if they did make this information available. They should also report their modes and means for LSAT scores.nacogdoches wrote:This sort of data may actually be available starting with next year's 509s. See: This ABA Memo.Maplesyrup wrote:we know that at least 1 in 4 matriculants is at or below that lsat range.bdb90 wrote:I think that we could both agree that Emory is clearly more immune than UGA, considering the fact that Emory and UGA had the same median LSAT for the entering class in fall 2011 and now UGA's median is 162. It is interesting that Emory's 25th is the same as UGA's, at least last year, but the reason that I don't see Emory's drop in 25th as big of a deal as UGA's is because of the fact that Emory obviously does not admit very many candidates at that LSAT range, since their median has not dropped.Maplesyrup wrote:their median has been out for months so we know that it held but i was talking about their 25th.. 2012: 161 2013: 157 2014: 158 i would call the four point drop between 2012 and 2013 pretty drastic regardless of whether or not it affected the median. so i don't think you can really say that their numbers are in any way immune from the affects of the drop in applicants.bdb90 wrote:Considering Emory has held an LSAT median of 165 throughout the entirety of the downturn in applications, I don't think Emory will see much of a drop in numbers, if one at all.
166 166 166 166 166 165 165 165 165 165 165 158 158 158 158 120 120 120 120 120
in the distribution above emory could have 45% of its class at and below the 25th percentile in order to maximize revenue by charging reverse splitters close to sticker price while still maintaining a 165 median.
it would make sense for uga to do the same thing. and since emory has a larger class size than uga, it is more likely than not that they actually have more students with a lsat score of equal to or less than 158 than uga.

Exactly, thank you for proving my point. Statistically speaking Georgia could have 49% of it's class at or below a 156 and still hold it's median, this is because medians are the only the middle number in a set of numbers. That is why schools should be required to report their mean, or average LSAT score. Regardless of whether or not Emory has a larger number of students at or below a 158, that is only because they have a larger class size like you mentioned earlier. They also have a median LSAT above Georgia's 75th percentile, meaning at least half, probably at least 51% of Emory's entering class scored better than at least 75% of those attending Georgia, if not more. Which also means that at least 50% of Emory students scored at or above a 165, and since schools don't release their 80th, 90th, or 99th percentiles, we can't be certain as to how many UGA law students scored at or above a 165. The point was that Emory has been able to maintain it's median more so than Georgia, but I completely understand where you are coming from with the 25th percentile argument. Georgia and Emory are both good schools, and used to be peer schools at least when Georgia was at its best in terms of admissions figures, but Georgia has fallen and Emory has held on to those numbers.

Anyone in here also applying to other GA schools? UGA is my clear #1 but Emory and State are both on my list- State is pretty high even compared to higher ranked out of state schools because of the cost.

State is definitely a great option. Had thought about applying to Emory, but have a number of good friends attending who say it isn't worth the money if you aren't given a solid amount of moneylaw_dawg18 wrote:Anyone in here also applying to other GA schools? I have applied to GA State, Emory, and Mercer as well. Accepted by GA State last week. GSU and UGA are tied for my #1 spot. Only applied to Emory in case a miracle occurs and they offer a large scholarship..law_dawg18 wrote:Anyone in here also applying to other GA schools? Congrats to those who have been accepted, and best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear back! I'm only a 1L with a semester down, but do feel free to message me if you have any questions. I am loving my experience at Georgia Law so far, and Athens is truly a great place to live (I'm from out of state originally). Go Dawgs!

Do you know of anyone who has the full-tuition scholarship for Georgia residents? What are the typical stats required?lawdag18 wrote:Congrats to those who have been accepted, and best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear back! Above both 75ths. All of my classmates that have scholarships that I'm aware of were splitters, but it feels like a higher LSAT score is worth more.bdb90 wrote:Do you know of anyone who has the full-tuition scholarship for Georgia residents? Checking in! FINALLY submitted my app today-- I went back and forth about applying for a few months. (I go to UGA for undergrad and thought I wanted to go out of state for LS...not so sure anymore!)
Let me know if you have any questions about Athens!

Congrats to all of those accepted! Should I be worried that I haven't heard back as quickly as some?
^fellow UGA undergrad here wanting to echo the same sentiment

FYI, when I applied it took months for them to respond. Eventually got in with a small scholly (was already in state, so no equalizer). Sometimes it just takes time. Good luck!law_dawg18 wrote:Congrats to all of those accepted! Should I be worried that I haven't heard back as quickly as some?

What do you think a 168 should warrant in terms of scholarship dollars? Lower 3's GPA.

I don'r know specifically, but if I was guessing, it would be somewhere around 25%-50%. Some of it would depend on what other offers you have.bdb90 wrote:unsweetened wrote:Above both 75ths.
