Accepted the other day! Got to say I'm really impressed with the admissions office through my communications with them.

This may be pure laziness on my part but I can't find a link to the status checker on their website... going into the email when I want to look is becoming burdensome. Someone smarter hook me up with a link I can bookmark?

That's funny. I just told my wife that same thing the other day. I always have to check via the email link as well.bamb00zled wrote:This may be pure laziness on my part but I can't find a link to the status checker on their website... going into the email when I want to look is becoming burdensome. What's it like! :3
How intense is the workload after 1l year?
Do you get to take weekends off or at least Saturdays off?
How many people have a six figure job lined up before they graduate?
Is not owning a car a popular choice?

UCLA is great. A few cut-throat people, but that is in the single digits. Compared to other law schools (from what I heard), UCLA is very chill. People are very nice, and I probably met friends that will last a life time.ruizdaw wrote:americanpirate wrote:Upperclassman here. Let me know if you all have any questions.

For 1L? For 1L, you will be constantly studying. But, I did actually have a lot of free time. Just be sure to keep ahead of your work (outlines, etc.) and you will be fine. However, a month before finals I stopped taking time off and literally studied from morning to night.
For 2L or 3L, 3L is a lot more chill. 2L, it depends how much work you have. For me, 2L is almost as much work as 1L because of extracurricular. Classwork is not much.
From my friends, most of them have a six figure job lined up - especially those wanting to do BigLaw. However, there is a significant population that are public interest. Not because they could not do BigLaw (they definitely could have), but mainly because they do not want to work at a firm. But if you want a six figure job (mid-big firms), study hard and the prospects are good.
Are you from LA? I did not have a car because I lived at the law school housing. But you definitely do not need a car. Uber is cheap, and everything is close by. Also, someone will have a car. If you want to explore LA, save it for 2L/3L.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

I'm leaning heavily towards L.A. or NYC because of the prospect of not having to deal with car payments/insurance/gas/maintenance is super appealing.
I know that's one way to offset the costs of living in a big metropolitan megoplex.

Thanks y'all. Maybe lurking UCLA admins will see our need and know our neurotic law school applicant selves could use a little help and hook a new direct link up.
