Re: Stanford C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016 cycle)
Thanks! Just called them and they said to list it as full-time employment. Thought I'd put that out there in case anybody else faces the same dilemma. They also said not to worry about it too much...perhaps I've spent too much time stressing on TLS?gobears!! wrote:I'm no expert, but I would think it would have to go in section 3 below. Section three is where you list community activities or extracurricular. You still list how much time you participated so they would know it was extensive. If you really really want to include it in the employment section, I'd say internship and then list the position as Volunteer--[Actual Title]. But IDK if that is a stretch in that section. You could always call or email SLS admissions with those types of questions. They are super resourceful and will know how they want you to submit it.mollywood wrote:Working on the app right now and need advice. How do I list a full time volunteer experience in the employment section? It's not an internship, so I feel odd putting unpaid internship, but all the other options seem to indicate paid positions.

Stanford has maintained silence since my original submission. Its indifference to my existence only exacerbates the pain of my hangover. The wait is difficult, and made worse by the jeers from the local life forms.

Aww man, I just realized that the Stanford cycle is going to be brutal due to the PST/EST difference.
EDIT: That was one of the more sternly worded confirmation emails I've received.

Compared with the others I've received, it just came across as spartan.Dear Mr. doublehoohopeful (my real last name):
We write to acknowledge receipt of your application to Stanford Law School. After your application is processed, we will contact you again with information on how to check your application status online.
Please note it is the responsibility of the applicant to make certain all required application materials reach the Office of Admissions.
Sincerely,

This email means nothing. You'll get a status checker when you get it. Your shit better be straight, because otherwise it's your fault.
Stanford out.

OP's log, stardate 2015.250
Since the single cryptic message several days ago, I have not had any communication with Stanford. I understand that it's a holiday weekend, but other schools have been communicating. Why not Stanford? I'm hoping to receive some sort of sign next week.

Re: Stanford C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016 cycle)
If there is something about Stanford that no other school has, I'd consider writing one. For example, Harvard has a clinic that I have years of experience in and no other school has something with that focus. I'm writing a quick paragraph or two highlighting that.gobears!! wrote:I personally did not write one, but I don't know if there is specific advice/preference on this. For HYS I generally assume that it is not necessary because they are HYS.slippin_jimmy wrote:So no one who submitted did a Why Stanford addendum? I realize they don't ask for one.
Otherwise, I'm ready to apply, aside from my unwillingness to part with $130 but that won't change so.
