I am seriously sad right now, feels like I've missed this wave of acceptances.

Accepted via email! Said scholarship will be coming no later than 2/5, and in the meantime I could send them any of my current offers I think they should consider. Not sure what to do with that but very excited!

Also not sure what to do about that^. I do have current offers, but I figured that's more for negotiation after an initial offer... Am I wrong?

In via email as well, I'd say shoot them one of your decent offers, keeping your best in as your ace in the whole when they send you their initial. But that's just my 2 cents.

Dear TLSers~
Greetings from Winston Salem!
While I admire your desire to angle for the best deal you can get, at Wake we actually do our level best to provide the best offer possible based on the information we collect in this stage between admission and scholarship offer. We utilize the information we collect in this period to verify our scholarship grid and make any adjustments necessary.
We also don't usually make adjustments to our initial scholarship offers and thus holding back your "ace-in-the-hole" offer could work against you. Plus what's the point of the strategy? Our goal is to provide you with a fair offer relative to your credentials and our directive to satisfy institutional goals.
I think you'll find that Wake really does view our students as being a part of our community. Our goal is to be direct and transparent in our dealings with students. Failing to provide the most relevant information will probably just end up frustrating that goal and you.
I promise we'll do the best we can for each of you. In exchange I hope you'll approach our dealings with each other in the same spirit of openness.
Feel free to contact me directly or on TLS if you have questions or concerns generally or relative to your specific situation.
All the best,
Jay Shively

Are any of you concerned with Wake Forest's job outlook? 56% on LST. It's a beautiful school and I've always been interested in it but that number is BAD Just seems like an expensive coin flip. Am I missing something? I would like to be sold on Wake I'm just struggling

Re: Wake Forest C/O 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Current 1L so my perspective on employment from Wake is limited, but this was my big hang up before making my choice. I justified my decision in 3 ways:JerryLundegard wrote:Are any of you concerned with Wake Forest's job outlook? 56% on LST. 1. They gave me a generous offer. I am debt averse and had the option of going to a higher ranked school with much more lucrative numbers, but I figured that if I don't do well, I can drop out/pursue something else and wind up where I was before. If I took the expensive option, I'd be screwed if I didn't do well (even if doing "well" was easier at the other school).
2. Wake's latest LST score is depressing. However, its stats tend to fluctuate more than other peers for some reason. I averaged its LST score over the past 5 years and it worked out to upper 60's or something, which was right on par with the other teir 1 southeastern schools.
3. That was (I believe) the largest national class in history. Our/your class will be much, much smaller on a national level, so the outlook should look significantly better a few years from now (though not necessarily rosy).
Obviously your choice should be tailored to your personal goals. Though I may be dropping out in a couple weeks if I didn't do decently, I will say that I really like the school, professors, etc. and I will vouch for Dean Shivley in that they stand by their efforts to be transparent and honest. They were the best of any school I dealt with last year in that regard.

Everyone is concerned with job prospects all the time and unfortunately the numbers are what they are. I would advise you to look at past LST years as well instead of just one year. It's something to consider. I will admit I struggled with the numbers when I applied. Hopefully the new numbers will be better.JerryLundegard wrote:Are any of you concerned with Wake Forest's job outlook? 56% on LST. Has anyone received their acceptance packet in the mail yet? I'm assuming due to the break they haven't sent any out yet, but I'm anxious to get it!

I have not. I am practically dying with anticipation. I know they reserve until February to provide scholarship decisions as well, anyone heard back regarding that matter yet?

UR as of today. I was very excited to see a change online, but after looking over this thread it seems it took about a month before most people received a decision. Guess I still have some waiting to do, but I am very hopeful!

First of all, thanks for taking questions !!

Some questions:
- Are grades published? Is there a forced curve or mean?
- Is it hard to write on to LR or journal?
- Who are coming to OCIs? Who gets to participate in them? Do you see a lot of governmental agencies--local, state, or federal--at them? At OCIs, are firms looking carefully for ties?
- What kinds of jobs do people who finish with median grades take?
- Did you also get into UNC? If you did, what made you pick Wake over UNC?
- How are the students? Friendly? Competitive?
- Do people generally get their first choice when applying for clinics?
- Is CoL reasonable?

-Every course with more than a certain number of students is curved to an 85 (I can't remember how many students, but all of your 1L courses will be curved in addition to most the important upper level courses)
-Writing on isn't incredibly difficult I don't think, if you put effort into it then you will likely make at least one of the two lower journals
-I found OCI to be pretty strong if you want to stay in North Carolina and you have the grades to get interviews. Almost all the big firms in NC came to OCI, along with several mid-sized firms. A lot of DA and PD offices also come. Every student can apply to OCI and the employer selects who they want to interview. Honestly, this ends up being the same 30 students or so
-People w/ median grades take any job they can get. I'm in this position, and while I didn't have trouble finding summer positions, finding a full time position has been difficult
-I did get into UNC-CH, but chose Wake because it was cheaper.
-I've found my classmates to be incredibly friendly. For the most part, everyone gets along and there are certainly no competitive horror stories. Lots of study groups, sharing of outlines, sending notes when someone is sick, etc
-Getting your choice of clinic has been fairly easy for my class because were so small (only ~125 or so).
-COL is pretty cheap. I have a 2 bedroom condo within a 5 minute walk to the school that would rent for about $750. Coincidentally, I will be looking to rent this out in the fall, hopefully to a law student

Has anyone heard anything today? From what I've heard, Wake Forest is supposed to send out some decisions today, and I'm curious if they have yet, since at this point I've been UR for 2 months.
