And I looked extensively at housing around Emory - it's expensive. Again, the only takeaway message that matters at this point in the cycle is apply for both UGA and Emory. Atlanta is a difficult market and neither school really dominates it. When it comes time for people to choose between the two schools they should look primarily at COA. If they don't want to stay in GA, other options are probably better.itachiuchiha wrote:1. For the sake of getting this clown out of here, let's just all say Emory is a million times better than UGA and he must have received a million $. All hail to whoever you are. Now go away.

1. Great job on the COL - what's your tuition? How much more will you have to pay back?itachiuchiha wrote:1. I'm paying dirt cheap COL for Emory and I'm living a pretty nice life in a nice studio all alone in the heart of Decatur.

2. No, it isn't. The schools are looked at equally by market-paying firms in Atlanta, as evidenced by the fact that about the same number (adjusted for class size) gets market from both schools. When I went through OCI (which, again, I'm guessing you haven't), the same number from each school were called back. If you're going to continue with your argument, we're gonna need more than opinions from a 1L who's been in law school for a whopping 2.5 months and has never looked for a job in law school.

Any insight on what's up with early decision? It doesn't seem like anyone has been accepted under ED yet...

Does anyone know what being under committee review is? Applied last week and got the status checker email late last week. Not sure if committee review is normal or what. Numbers are 164 ~3.5

I'd assume they're holding off on the EDs until they get a bunch of regular apps processed...I think they'll only offer admission to the best of the best via ED since it basically guarantees attendance, which is the reason I applied regular. If I get in it will be hard to turn down UGA with in-state tuition regardless of whether I get a scholly or not.carolinanne1 wrote:Any insight on what's up with early decision? That's interesting because I was told that opposite of that from members of their admissions board. They told me they're more likely to admit students through ED that would be less likely to be admitted later on in the admissions cycle. Basically it increases your chances of being admitted, because they know you're a for sure deal.

Just a reminder that the Acceptances, Waitlists, Denials forum is not the appropriate place to debate the merits of any particular school. Doing so in this forum will result in warnings and/or a ban.

I just assumed it was an easy way of guaranteeing attendance from top applicants, but if you spoke to members of their admissions board, then I defer to you. My post was based on assumptions and nothing more.carolinanne1 wrote:mlyndall wrote:I'd assume they're holding off on the EDs until they get a bunch of regular apps processed...I think they'll only offer admission to the best of the best via ED since it basically guarantees attendance, which is the reason I applied regular. Just so everyone knows, this kid is paying roughly $30,000 a year for Emory, while all of us in-state kids will pay roughly $18,000 for UGA. He got "just over a 1/3 scholarship." His GPA was about a 3.3 and his LSAT was about a 158. He lives alone in a studio apartment in Decatur. His likes include posting on forums that have no relevance to him and calling people names. He's going to be a winner and probably an ambulance chaser.itachiuchiha wrote:hey dumbass, I got in with scholly too last year. suck it.msx3 wrote:Same person who posted: "THANK YOU! GOD BLESS YOU! Just stick to Emory's thread if you're going to post "Emory > UGA". Or at least provide some insight to help this years class decide between Emory/UGA.
To get back on topic:
I am entering my 7th week for my application. On the status checker they say 6-8 weeks for review. How accurate have people found this?

I planned on leaving GA for LS, don't even know why UGA sent me a fee waiver considering my LSAT score. I'll take it though and call it a stretch school. Personally, I would go to Emory if i threw cash at me, but it won't and so I won't. I just got all of my LORs back so I'm working on finishing my applications.

Ok, I apologize for annoying and just trolling y'all lol.
So I'll add something substantive to the forum...
FWIW, I got admitted to UGA via phone call in the second week of August off the w/l. By then I was already enrolled and set on attending Emory. Good luck guys!

lol god sent me to annoy the world! controversy is fun... we are going into the legal profession after all.
I also wanted to add. I sent in a LOCI around March. I don't think it had any bearing on my file because I was wait listed shortly thereafter.

Dude, seriously. You aren't adding anything of value to this thread. We get it - UGA didn't let you in and you went to Emory. Your stories of March and waitlists are of no value to us. Stop trying so hard, and like I said earlier, GO AWAY.itachiuchiha wrote:msx3 wrote:See, you could have started with this and not come off like a jerk.itachiuchiha wrote:Ok, I apologize for annoying and just trolling y'all lol.

People, please drop the Emory/UGA/trolling/whatever in this thread. Anyone who perpetuates the discussion from this point on will take a little time out. Thanks.

I applied ED around 10/24 and my application went under review on 10/30 I think it was? It also says that the process will take 6-8 weeks. My stats aren't strong for me to be hopeful about getting into UGA, but I applied ED, and I can only hope that will slightly increase my chances.

Got a call from an admissions officer last week after I was accepted. I asked them about this and they said they get together mid November and start making decisions about scholarships so we shouldn't be waiting too long to hear from them.vdh2102 wrote:Hi all, just checking in.
