Still deciding between tackling the problem of evil and the question whether there is free will, but I'm sure I'll resolve whatever issue I take up in the space allotted.smccgrey wrote:What's your 250, hand?hereisonehand wrote:just started my application and noted that Yale, despite the absence of this information on their website, does waive their application fee if you have an LSAC fee waiver. Not planning on it. My resume contains the highlights.james.bungles wrote:also wtf yale. the college activities and post college activities sections are annoying as hell.
are you guys responding to those in essay format?
Yeah thinking of going meta on it; 'what are we asking for when we ask what the meaning of life is? is this even a coherent question?' and then throw in that strip of acid I was talking about.smccgrey wrote:I mean you might as well skip the BS and just 250 the meaning of life.hereisonehand wrote:Still deciding between tackling the problem of evil and the question whether there is free will, but I'm sure I'll resolve whatever issue I take up in the space allotted.smccgrey wrote:What's your 250, hand?hereisonehand wrote:just started my application and noted that Yale, despite the absence of this information on their website, does waive their application fee if you have an LSAC fee waiver. Are you a fan of Derk Pereboom? Galen Strawson?hereisonehand wrote:Still deciding between tackling the problem of evil and the question whether there is free will, but I'm sure I'll resolve whatever issue I take up in the space allotted.smccgrey wrote:What's your 250, hand?hereisonehand wrote:just started my application and noted that Yale, despite the absence of this information on their website, does waive their application fee if you have an LSAC fee waiver. Even though this post was pure lolzies... Which Strawson are you talking about, jr. or sr.? I used to not be impressed by Strawson's Sr.'s claim to fame, 'Freedom and Resentment', but I must say I came around on it eventually, even if I think he is mistaken regarding whether the question of having reactive attitudes or not is a 'live' one (full disclosure: I think we can, and perhaps should, do without them.) As to jr., while I gave up pretty quickly on Freedom and Belief (as it struck me as a little muddled and long-winded), Galen Strawson's 'The Impossibility of Moral Responsibility' is one of my favorite 20th century pieces on the subject. Pereboom is clearly very smart and defends a lot of claims that I find plausible, but his work also illustrates why the literature on the subject has become so tedious in the last decades.Seoulless wrote:Are you a fan of Derk Pereboom? I am listing them very simply and in bullet point form. Also submitting a resume that will cover them in depth.smile0751 wrote:So Yale asks for, "Please answer a, b, and c separately from any included résumé. Your application will not be considered complete unless a, b, and c are answered. Please list:
(a) Significant extracurricular activities and unpaid externships or internships in college, in order of their relative importance to you. Please estimate your time commitment for each activity.
(b) Paid employment while in college and during vacations.
(c) Other activities during college (in or out of school) that you consider relevant."
Are people just listing the activities and time commitment, or also providing details? I am also planning on submitting my formal resume.
