I have no idea. I'm wondering about that myself.
Also, I wouldn't listen to any applicant about admissions right now. Everyone is doing his or her best to dissuade others from attending and dropping off the held list.

I'm considering as well. Though, I don't want to wait all the way in the summer for a decision. I'd like to know where I'm going by the end of May at the latest.

Since I just got held yesterday, I think the chances of me hearing this month are slim.
What I plan to do (in respect to LSAT) is to start my LSAT studying and then if I don't hear anything by May 6, I will register for the LSAT. That's the deadline.
Then I'll go full-force and let NU know that I'm going to retake (just so that if they were going to reject me, they can at least wait to see if my LSAT goes up first). And hopefully, I can smash it.
I don't care what any of you say that you heard on campus or from someone else, I'm keeping hope alive.

Hey guys,
Thanks for keeping the hope/positive perspective going. Much needed. So I've began writing these essays and I'm having an insane time trying to write anything longer than a paragraph to answer each questions. I find the questions kind of absurd. They're giving us a 750 word limit.. But I can barely type up 100 words as to what I'd do on a free day, or with a shopping spree. I'm mean seriously, 750 words to explain that I'd just buy every book/song with a spree? This is starting to irk me. How long was everyones, and how did you tackle these questions?

I answered 3. All but the shopping spree one. I felt the same way about the length. What I decided was that 750 was the limit not the requirement. As long as your answer is complete then that's probably better. It could be a test of our conciseness?
Also, I had an interview today and it was very chill. She was very nice, but expect the throw off questions. I am saying this because right after my interview I got into Cornell so I'm now intent on going there.

Because I'm obsessed with NU, I read the entire Held at Northwestern c/o 2016 thread just now.
Here's what happened:
May 7th:
Admits: 3
Waitlist: 0
May 16th:
Admits: 1
Waitlist: 20
May 17th:
Admits: 0
Waitlist: 2
And that's where it ends. Also good to note is the fact that people in THAT thread that had gone back and read the Held at Northwestern c/o 2015 (crazy, those people graduate next year) thread said that the first wave of hold movement was on May 6th of 2012 and another on May 9th. (Not sure if there were additional waves after.)
Take that as you may, but it sounds like a pattern. Hold wave happens 1st and 2nd week of May and possibly some more action afterwards.

The shopping spree was hard for me to write, but I approached it as an essay for them to get to know you. So instead of just thinking of it as a way to say what you like, give a story alongside the product that says something about you. They're not going to care that you want Harry Potter or Beyonce's new album. They want to know why and what are your motivations for picking it.

To build off this, I just read the Waitlisted at Northwestern c/o 2016 thread as well. Here's what I saw:
May 24th:
Admits: 5
June 14th:
Admits: 4
June 26th:
Admits: 4
June 27th:
Admits: 2
July 3rd:
Admits: 3
July 26:
Admits: 3
Possibly some later that the posters referred to as joining the fb group but not being on TLS.
So for WL, looks like end of May, and all the way to orientation is when they release those decisions.

No Aprils? Though the 1Ls I talked to did get in most during May.

Seems strange, considering everyone in the admissions office has been saying "mid-April" every time I ask. During my interview, my interviewer said they expected to review the held applicants beginning last week.
Who knows--gotta keep the faith either way.

Hey, maybe the past two years are not enough of proof.
Maybe it will be in April and they don't follow a standard.
I just think there was a pattern in '13 and '12, enough that it was noteworthy.

A cursory look at LSN shows that in the '11-'12 cycle they had held->admits on 4/20. Obviously patience is essential since most hold-admits have come in May historically, but I wouldn't rule out a small amount of late April action (though this depends a lot on their scholarship deadline causing withdrawals since the deposit deadline isn't until April 30).

Also, take a look at the Northwestern waitlist data in the
T14 Waitlist thread if you haven't - in recent years they've mainly just taken median or higher LSAT splitters off it.
E: Do you know how many people went held->waitlist->admit last cycle, leigh?

Worked on my essays today.
I was in the recent April 7 hold wave. Do you think they'll clump all the held people together to release decisions or keep them separate by their decision dates? (Like not decide on those held in April until they've decided on those who were held before April?)

No sir/ma'am.
That would require me to write down the usernames and cross reference....which I'll totally do when I'm bored at work this week

I would do them asap. The earlier your app is complete, the earlier they can review it as a whole with those of us that got held almost a month back.

Outlines for my essays are complete!
Filming tomorrow. If I'm happy (enough) with the outcome, I will submit tomorrow! One week after getting held. Hopefully they see that as a quick turnaround and see that I really want this.
Who knows what they think though.
Sigh.

I believe it after all the prep I put into them already! I'm sure to be a perfectionist. "My hair didn't look right. Let's redo." "Ugh, my voice sounds manly. Redo!" "Dammit, the dog walked in front of my shot. Redo." Should be a fun afternoon.
Thanks Rion, you too!!!

I listen you being so perfect, and I re-watch my videos, and I think, "This is horrible!" So, I decided to film two of the essays and write two of them. There. It's decided.
