Spreadsheet. I'm not good with this sort of stuff, so let me know if there are any problems. I just copied last year's sheet and deleted the values.

Almost all of us so far have had pre-WL JS1's. That is a bit different from last year's spreadsheet

Obviously it's still early and the results will change, but I wonder if they tried to do more JS1s pre-WL so they could speed things once choosing people from there.

Idk man, you of all people can attest to Harvard not being particularly interested in giving out speedy decisions. Hope you're right though!drawstring wrote:Obviously it's still early and the results will change, but I wonder if they tried to do more JS1s pre-WL so they could speed things once choosing people from there.

What is the consensus on LOCIs?
I want to make sure they know I want to go, but a standard LOCI seems useless... and I don't really have meaningful updates. Would another personal statement-esque submission be appropriate?

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2017
I am disappointed to be WL'ed without a JS1. But those numbers y'all have put up are encouraging.
Here's my .02 regarding the LOCI:
I don't think they are asking for one in the waitlist e-mail, so I'm not sure I would send one.
They do ask for more information, so if you find any new information to send then that could be a good way of signalling interest.
Anyway, good luck to everyone!

Checking in.
169/3.97, JS0
Not sure where I fit on the softs scale, but I'm finishing up my PhD in Environmental Sciences.
Probably looking at other Boston schools, so I'll likely ride the waitlist train off the cliff.

I am a current 1L who got in off the waitlist in May of last year. Several of my friends in my section were on the waitlist as well. Just wanted to give you guys some hope. I know this part is difficult.

Thanks for stopping by! It always gives me hope to know that current HLS students were in the same boat.Kitkatt wrote:I am a current 1L who got in off the waitlist in May of last year. Re: Harvard Waitlist 2017
Waitlisted Friday without JS1. High GPA, low LSAT. My question is, have people without JS1s been taken off the waitlist before in previous years?? Or do people who have had JS1s take priority??

People without JS1s definitely get offered JS1s while they are on the waitlist.paperrev wrote:Waitlisted Friday without JS1. High GPA, low LSAT. My question is, have people without JS1s been taken off the waitlist before in previous years?? Or do people who have had JS1s take priority??
You definitely still have a shot (your shot might even be better for reasons expressed ITT.)

Hey bom, any chance you can add something about the spreadsheet to the thread title (e.g. 'now with spreadsheet')? I think more people will fill it out that way.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2017
Current HLS student here.
Just dropping in to share my experience with the waitlist process. My little way of paying it forward.
A little about me:
<50% LSAT
~50% GPA
Limited WE
Mediocre UG
I was dinged the first year I applied. I was waitlisted, and later accepted, the second year I applied.
My JS1 went horribly. Just horribly. I felt bad afterwards because I'm usually a pretty good interviewer. I did not receive a JS2 (even after several waves had gone out), so I basically gave up hope. Ultimately, I sent one final, disheartened, last-ditch-effort LOCI to HLS and received a JS2 shortly thereafter.
My advice is to use your LOCI when you're ready. Obviously, don't send it too early and don't send it too late. Just make sure it adds something to your candidacy or - in my case - clarifies something about your application/JS1. Stay humble, write well, etc.
When all of you get in (and I know you will!), you will perform just fine relative to your non-WL classmates.
Good luck!

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2017
Just finished reading last year's thread (http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... tlist+2016). Wow. That was stressful. I feel (mildly) prepared for the wait now though.

My hope lies in there being at least 40ish acceptances reported on here and/or LSN last cycle and the data here http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 2&t=225363
Percent of acceptances coming from the waitlist, past three cycles:
1. Harvard: 15.6% (74 of 473 acceptances on LSN came from the waitlist)
Percent of all waitlisted applicants who are eventually admitted, past three cycles:
2. Harvard: 19.3% (383 waitlists on LSN, 74 eventually admitted)

Based on the spreadsheet almost all acceptances were for really high GPAs.... which is anything but comforting for me...

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2017
Who they pull off the wait list depends on what they need for their class to meet their goals whether it be numbers, softs, or demographics. Its possible that last year, they needed higher GPAs to reach a target median (or 25th or 75th or whatever) so that could totally change this year depending on how the incoming class is shaping up.kitkat288 wrote:
Me too! I am really just fishing for someone to have evidence that shows otherwise.
P.S. I'm also a splitter trying to remain hopeful
