Penn seems to have been pretty quiet. Has anyone heard anything about the waitlist?

Re: Penn Waitlist 2014
I got a call from admissions today. Wanted to gage my interest and see if Penn was still my top choice, where my deposit was etc. She said they are meeting wed, thurs, and friday of this week to discuss WL candidates they liked. Each officer selected a few that they liked, called them to see if they were equally interested, and that most of these candidates are offered admission.
I looked back in 2013 and 2012- about 4 kids got the same kind of call and statement I did and all were admitted a few days after. Guess they are moving things quickly!
She also said there was a lot of confusion- they changed the deadline to RECEIVED by May 1- not postmarked by May 1. They got a lot of deposits coming in too late apparently, thus making more room I would suppose!

Thanks for the info. Do you mean they already called the people they liked or that they'll be doing so this week?

Re: Penn Waitlist 2014
I think they just started doing so? I think (if i remember correctly from looking at threads last year and year before) that they continued to do so into June? Definitely the second and third week of May. I would double check that though.vivala wrote:Thanks for the info. Did you receive an interest-gauging phone call before this, or was it a total surprise?

Ok - as my subject name indicates I am a long time luker who has made an account for 3 reasons.
1st - to tell jk148706 I hate his profile pic because that face falls right into uncanny valley. - the posts are good, I just feel an overwhelming cringe before I read them
2nd - to ask what do you guys mean when you say "reverse splitter" - like at or below their bottom 25th percentile w/ LSAT and above 75percentile with GPA?? Under that paradigm I am a reverse splitter with good softs
3rd - I don't understand the charts on page 1 regarding previous cycles to determine if I have to hide in my terror bunker to start studying again for October LSAT again since I only care to go to Penn; can someone translate?

Thanks based yet slightly disturbing due to photo, jk148706... May our wait-list prospects be many and our seat deposit costs low; hope to see you all in Philly/Charlottesville/Chicago come Augustjk148706 wrote:1. 2. Reverse splitter - high gpa, low lsat
Splitter- high lsat, low gpa
3. Page 1 just shows data from lawschoolnumbers.com over the last few cycles. It's a small sample size, but it shows how many people on LSN were accepted, enrolled, withdrew and were Waitlisted--> accepted.

Does leaning in to get a closer look at your profile pic count as movement? My goodness.BornAgain99 wrote:any movement at all folks?
Sorry, my attempt to break some tension. I haven't heard anything recently from Penn, one of the quieter waitlists I'm on. UVA being perhaps the loudest (hoping for another weekly update tomorrow from Cordel).
