Yeah the letter says 40-50%. USD used to have a similar stip but they recently dropped it to "good standing" which is awesome.ManoftheHour wrote:3.2 is top 45-50%, right?

Most definitely. I'm wary of attending any school with sTTTTips. Definitely throwing an app to USD now. Thanks!bkegslounge wrote:

Congrats on getting in with Scholly! Did you have any date changes? Can you share the postmark date on your acceptance packet?

Interestingly, I stayed as "Complete" with a date change to 1/16, packet came either Saturday or Monday (I was home for the weekend... is there mail on MLK?). No update to "Decision Rendered" or anything of the sort. Submitted 12/17, complete 12/18, second complete 1/6 or 1/7, third 1/16Snowboarder1588 wrote:Congrats! No. But some time in May, LSAC does release the names of students and which schools they deposited in.eliztudorr wrote:im just wondering if all schools you applied to can see which other law schools you applied in the same cycle?

Re: Loyola Law School C/O 2017 (2013-2014 Applicants)
Thanks. I just checked online again and they never updated my status. It still says "Application Complete." I applied 12/2 and it went complete 12/13. I already threw away the envelope but I'm pretty sure it came on Saturday because it wasn't there Friday and the mail wasn't delivered Sunday or Monday. I never received an email either. Seems like people are just randomly getting their acceptance packages via snail mail without email notifications or status checker updates.Snowboarder1588 wrote:bkegslounge wrote:

I was accepted but they never emailed me. They never updated my status checker either. But I have my acceptance package so I don't know what their deal is. Unorganized maybe? I'm sure you're fine. I wouldn't sweat it. Good luck!xoGossipGirl wrote:

Well I'm a reverse splitter so....it's pretty bleak for me. Also, my status changed to "Decision Rendered" while yours didn't change at all so maybe we aren't in the same situation. Plus, I heard a few people who got their decisions the same day as me and received acceptance emails. Maybe I'm waitlisted? Does anyone know how Loyola does the whole WL deal?

It's yield protect. Some schools will waitlist or reject overly qualified applicants because they think that those applicants will have better options and will most likely not attend. The yield rate affect a school's ranking. I would not worry too much about it though. From the previous cycle, I don't think Loyola YPs much.Stella77 wrote:ManoftheHour wrote:Don't fret. Re: Loyola Law School C/O 2017 (2013-2014 Applicants)
Loyola 1L here. If it makes anyone feel better, very few decision were rendered this early last year that weren't admits. Check LSN for the details, but only numbers well below both medians landed rejections this early on.
Good luck, guys!
Edit: Oh, and I wouldn't worry about YP. There was no evidence to support speculation that Loyola has done this in recent years. I think they are mostly worried about numbers at this stage in the game, as most schools in the middle range of the rankings had a drop of a couple of points in both metrics. I would expect a packet with a big scholarship offer if I were applying with numbers above median and didn't have evidence in my application that $$$ isn't going to be a factor (i.e. if you're not rich).
Oh, and if you get an email from someone in admissions asking about your interest in the school, kiss butt.

That is reassuring for me to read! However, I'm a reverse splitter: GPA above 75th, LSAT below 25th. Based on your experience what would you say my odds are? Priority deadline is a few days away so they know what their pool is looking like for the season. As stated above, I got "decision rendered" with no follow-up emails or info. Other kids got emails

No way to know for sure, but I think you have a shot. When did you apply? What other components were there to your app? Are you local? I don't have a crystal ball and I don't work in admissions (or for Loyola in any capacity), but feel free to PM me more details.xoGossipGirl wrote:CO2016YEAH wrote:Loyola 1L here. For what it's worth, I didn't get any congratulatory email either. I waited for the packet and saw a big envelope in the box on the day I was expecting the mail. It was my first admit, it had a good offer, and here I am!

Hey now, anyone who gets a YP from any law school has bragging rights forever. Like, "I was so strong of a candidate that I scared the school I applied to.". If my decision was a YP I would frame that and hang it on my mantle foreverStella77 wrote:ManoftheHour wrote:It's yield protect. Re: Loyola Law School C/O 2017 (2013-2014 Applicants)
With all due respect to MoTH, who has proven that he "knows nothing in life but to be legit," I think YP is by and large a myth.
I've heard that yield is considered in the methodology, but with only a quick google I am unable to see how or where. According to the methodology USNW posted last year, "Selectivity" accounted for 25% of the ranking, with median LSAT comprising 12.5%, median UG GPA comprising 10%, and acceptance rate comprising the additional 2.5%. http://www.usnews.com/education/best-gr ... s-rankings Therefore, it is in the interest of the school to deny students they don't think will come for the sake of keeping the acceptance rate down (and the "selectivity" up) while building the best class they can. However, given that median numbers make up a much larger component of the ranking and the school is backed by a large private university, you are much more likely to see a big, fat, envelope. (I have heard from multiple sources, including upperclassmen and admissions directors at other schools, that the amount of scholarship offers made last year was ridiculous.)
On a side note, it is funny watching 0L panic after having been through it.
The decision will be in the box shortly, and you'll be ok either way. Another exercise in self-indulgent panic will come the middle of next semester, when everyone is freaking out over their first mid-term. But then the end of the semester will come and you will have a couple more mid-terms and finals, by the end of which people will be so burnt out they won't GAF. Think of all the stress you have to look forward to and chillax for the time being.
