How are you attaching it? As one of the optional addendums ?The-Specs wrote:I am submitting a diversity and Why Chicago statement. I will let you know how it goes.DrStudMuffin wrote: Thanks for the input Regulus.
I can't seem to find the statement that specifically recommends not sending extraneous materials, other than the one about being genuine and concise. My reasons don't really fit in my personal statement, so I've been going back and forth on whether to submit a very brief addendum outlining some very practical (no BS about "rigor") reasons why Chicago is such a good fit for me. Anyone have thoughts on this?

The application asks: Has your education in college, university, or professional school been interrupted for one term or more for any reason?
My answer is yes simply because I took a leave of absence when studying abroad so I didn't have to pay tuition fees. Therefore I have no credit on my transcripts from this semester, but still graduated on time. Do you think I should include an addendum explaining this? Any tips on how to best explain this concisely? Thanks in advance

Is the studying abroad on your resume? I'd think that would cover it for them, but I guess it couldn't hurt to say something brief

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
Hello!
I was accepted last year, but I elected to defer due to some family circumstances and a job opportunity so I will be class of 2017.
I just wanted to say good luck to everyone applying, and if anyone has any questions about admissions, why I picked Chicago, or whatever else feel free to PM me and I will do my best to help!

Went complete today. Class of 2016, when did the first batch of non-ED decisions come out?

I'm not C/O 2016, but last year they came out mid-January. I'm wondering if they might speed things up considering the time trouble they experienced last year because of the interviews.Humbert Humbert wrote:Went complete today. Class of 2016, when did the first batch of non-ED decisions come out?

Jan. 23rd but I'd be surprised if they didn't start earlier this year since last year they were saying everything got delayed due to having the interviewing program for the first time.Humbert Humbert wrote:Went complete today. Class of 2016, when did the first batch of non-ED decisions come out?

Do you have to interview to get an acceptance?

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
There were some people who were admitted without interviews late in the cycle, but it might have just been because they ran out of time since they were so behind last year.Regulus wrote:Based on what we saw last cycle, almost everyone who was admitted from TLS had an interview (I don't think there were anyone of us who got in without one, but there might have been and I just don't know them).t-14orbust wrote:Do you have to interview to get an acceptance?
However, this is from UChicago's website:
Admissions Interviewing Program wrote:I was not invited to interview. Does this negatively affect my chances of admission?
You should not read anything into whether you have been invited to interview. Some applicants will be admitted without an interview, and any outcome is possible after the interview. Being offered an interview does not mean that a candidate is guaranteed admission, nor does it mean that the Committee has questions about the applicant, or that the application is borderline.

Under review as well. When can we expect a decision!?The-Specs wrote:Just went under review.
This seems faster than last year. Is that accurate or am I just imagining that because it is me?
