Let me know if anyone has any question about the school, I'd be happy to answer them. But since we lost the Director of Admission, I am not sure what new processes or procedures they put in place, so not much help on that front.

I have a question...besides Indian Illinois and New York, how about ND law job placement in Southwest, like Texas ...? Does school/alumni offer good help finding summer jobs?kyle010723 wrote:Let me know if anyone has any question about the school, I'd be happy to answer them. Similar question to the one above...but how has ND done in the last few years with placement in Boston? I have fairly strong ties to the area, so where would I need to be within the class (top 15%? 20%?) to have a shot at biglaw there?kyle010723 wrote:Let me know if anyone has any question about the school, I'd be happy to answer them. People with ties to those areas do pretty well with competitive grades. I graduated in 2013, and the only two people I knew who wanted Boston got it, but they were both on Law Review and had New England ties.

Hello, how is the culture at ND? Are there activities to participate in outside of the classroom? Are students mostly studious, or outgoing? And how are the job prospects if one wants to head back east, DC, NY, PA?

I just had my third updates since complete 10/8. Now I have 10/8, 10/14, 10/21, and 11/20 (all complete). Last year the third update after complete was "Decision Made" so I'm hoping that is not a bad sign

Mine updated today also. I believe it's the second update since mine went complete. I believe somewhere around 2 weeks have passed since my initial complete.

How long after you all sent your apps before you received a status checker or email from ND?

The exact number of grads that end up in each state is posted somewhere in the law school's website. Indiana is not a top destination for ND students. There are few Indiana students in the law school and it seems most want to return to their home states or go to a big city. I know California always gets a lot of grads, in part because so many law students are from California.kobe1020 wrote:I have a question...besides Indian Illinois and New York, how about ND law job placement in Southwest, like Texas ...? "How's the culture?" is very broad. If you come from a very liberal undergrad, the law school's culture is going to seem a bit conservative. But there are plenty of liberals and as a liberal myself, the conservative tilt of the student body hasn't bothered me. Most people rarely talk about politics or religion. People are friendly and, in spite of the competitive nature of law school, they are willing to help each other out.NanaP wrote:kyle010723 wrote:Let me know if anyone has any question about the school, I'd be happy to answer them. There are always things to do outside the classroom, it just depends on how much do you want to get involved with outside class. Everyone has some sort of social life. One can't say some students are studious and others are outgoing. Honestly, everyone seems to study a lot but find time to have fun too.
In terms of getting jobs in a specific area, it seems that the key is to have ties or develop ties to the market. If you are from DC/NY/PA you can get back there.

Outside of IL and NY, CA is the largest state we feed into (more 1L this year are from CA than any other state)kobe1020 wrote:

I do not know about TX market in particular (looks like they placed 8 in TX for class of 2012), but ND alumni are huge help to job search. Any alumnus I've talked to thus far are all very willing to help, whether they are in the power to offer you a job is another question, but they can help you get your resume in front of a real person instead of the pile.
