Re: Stanford c/o 2017 (2013-2014 applicants)
lol sorry, I was under the impression that Yale had the best employment prospects of any school. Does Stanford really provide any significant advantages for working in CA aside from location? I also want to work in CA, but assumed that any of HYS would get me back here.ManOfTheMinute wrote:Seriously... YLS isn't the best choice for everyone. Sourrudedude, I'm curious as to why Yale isn't your #1, given your numbers.

Re: Stanford c/o 2017 (2013-2014 applicants)
They will, but some SF and palo alto tech firms are pretty Stanford/boalt niche. And promixity to the market definitely has its advantages. Id take SLS over Yale to work in CA, but Yale ofer stanford for gov work, clerkships, and academia.t-14orbust wrote:lol sorry, I was under the impression that Yale had the best employment prospects of any school. It's more type of employment. For example, Yale wins in academia and Supreme Court clerk placement; Stanford wins in Tech IP and JD-MBA careers.t-14orbust wrote:lol sorry, I was under the impression that Yale had the best employment prospects of any school. California is hard to break into without ties - if you're from OoS, your option are pretty much Cal/Stanford (and to a lesser extent in LA, UCLA/USC).

Checking in.
Best school on the west coast, and only school worth going on the west coast, except UCI of course.

Interesting fact - in recent years (since 2007), Stanford has accepted all applicants from BYU with a 174+/3.9+ (7 of them).

This could be because most of them (and all of them whom I have met) went on an interesting mission - which provided the soft factor that SLS requires regardless of numbers...ralph wrote:Interesting fact - in recent years (since 2007), Stanford has accepted all applicants from BYU with a 174+/3.9+ (7 of them).

Anyone wanna take a shot at explaining why Stanford waitlists so many people with high numbers?

Does this site have options besides BYU?? Can't seem to find any othersThe-Specs wrote:Checking in.
Went to BYU but definitely don't have the 3.9+ Due to the GPA floor I am pretty sure that I have zero chance of getting in here but I would do anything for a T3 admit so here goes.ralph wrote:Interesting fact - in recent years (since 2007), Stanford has accepted all applicants from BYU with a 174+/3.9+ (7 of them).

Checking in....
I have the GPA. Don't have an LSAT score yet but I'm not confident about a 170+ on the Oct. LSAT
Any suggestions on targeted SLS recs??

Stanford has told me that they like them. I personally ended up not submitting one, but a sample size of 1 is hardly representative.caffedriade wrote:Checking in....
