I have some other good offers, so I'm wondering if I should go ahead and plan a visit before receiving scholarship info or not.

I got a call two days ago congratulating me and making sure that I had gotten my admission stuff in the mail. She told me I should be receiving scholarship information in three weeks.

So, it looks like it will be another week and a half for scholarship info... Unless anyone has heard anything different?

My experience with UofA is that they are VERY willing to negotiate scholarships. Hopefully that helps some of you get some more $$$
Good luck!

Do you know which schools they consider to be peer schools? I have already been offered 75% scholarships from a few schools ranked a few spots behind Arizona as well as one better ranked school. Arizona is one of my top choices, so I'm hoping that they will be able to compete financially with the other offers I have.gaud wrote:My experience with UofA is that they are VERY willing to negotiate scholarships. ASU would definitely be one. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. If I were you I'd use any leverage you've got. Worst they can say is no.Princess Consuela wrote:Do you know which schools they consider to be peer schools? Now that I think about it, when I negotiated with them it wasn't even about another school offering me more money, I used another school having a cheaper cost of attendance (as I lived closer) for leverage. It worked.

I live up in the Phoenix area and am hoping to get admitted to ASU this week, and heard back from mizzou this week which offerend me a fat scholarship. So maybe I will be able to use that if they dont offer me any money. Any idea how generous they are to in state applicants???gaud wrote:Now that I think about it, when I negotiated with them it wasn't even about another school offering me more money, I used another school having a cheaper cost of attendance (as I lived closer) for leverage. I live in Phx and ASU was the school with a lower cost of attendance. They were very generous to deal with. My original offer was something like $75k (in-state) and they were willing to negotiate for more (don't want to say numbers in fear of outing myself).grassynome wrote:I live up in the Phoenix area and am hoping to get admitted to ASU this week, and heard back from mizzou this week which offerend me a fat scholarship. So, if you get anything from ASU and have a lower COA total I would use that to your advantage. If not, use Mizzou because, well, what do you have to lose?

Okay, good point. I must say I have been very impressed with U of A's law school so far. The admissions staff is super helpful and willing to go out of their way. What law school do you attend now? To add to what you've mentioned, yes. UofA was very professional and helpful throughout the entire process. Unlike some other schools...

Really hoping for some movement this week. I've been UR since 1/4 and I figure if a decision isn't made this week or next then I may be waiting until March or later. (159/3.99/OOS/Non-URM)

Just called admissions. Alli said roughly another week before scholarship info will be sent.

Not to heap on but I would do crazy and unholy things to go back in time and beat my younger self senseless to get a 3.7+ LSDAS GPA. If you won't retake for yourself than do it for me. Just 1 more point would open up a whole new world to you. 6+ more points and your looking at t-14s.nickb285 wrote:I'm glad someone else said this first.buddytyler wrote:You're hurting my heart. Without a doubt good advice, but my parents (who are paying tuition, I pay CoL) want me to go now. If I waited another cycle I'd probably get arrested with all the down time (seriously). #FirstWorldProblemsPip42 wrote:Not to heap on but I would do crazy and unholy things to go back in time and beat my younger self senseless to get a 3.7+ LSDAS GPA. - You will gain invaluable WE at a professional full-time job
- You will have an advantage over other K-JDs when looking for a legal job
- You will perhaps learn that law school isn't for you after all, and if it still is...
- You can either go to a T14, dramatically increasing your job prospects, or...
- You can go to a regional school for free and save your parents tens (maybe hundreds) of thousands of dollars in tuition
Source: someone who desperately did not want to wait a year but did anyway, and has zero regrets about it. With a 170+ you are looking at perhaps HYS and certainly CCN down. Please don't waste that GPA. Please. Ok I'm done now.
