Also snagged the 90k Dean's scholarship. Northeastern just got a whole lot more enticing.

Admitted 12/5, just received my packet in the mail today. 60k social justice scholarship. Unfortunately, the remaining 80k worth of loans (before living expenses) is a real mountain of debt for anyone considering social justice/public interest.generaltoast wrote:Also snagged the 90k Dean's scholarship. Re: Northeastern c/o 2016
Seems to be people with a 164+ LSAT and a solid GPA...just ballpark guess though. I'm shocked by the amount of aid they are offering. Unfortunately the job prospects are terrifying to me, at least for law firm work.Granfalloon12 wrote:Anybody have a gist of what type of numbers warrant the Dean's Scholarship?
Edit: I'm wrong: Less than 164 will do the job..

170 and 3.4, 60k but no Dean's Scholarship. Looks like they want the GPA.

Skri65 did you dig up some stats about employment rates following grad? I was thinking of emailing but would assume their reported rates would be exaggerated.

Law School Transparency: 10 people out of the class of 182 students secured long term full time jobs at law firms of more than 50 lawyers. To be fair, Northeastern does focus (and do well with) on PI law, so there are less people gunning for these larger firm jobs. Unfortunately, I want to do IP law..ClaireyMary wrote:166 and 3.5 gpa an got deans scholarship. Also have WE and an Msc.

Re: Northeastern c/o 2016
Do you think this means we are out of contention for a PILS scholarship if we get the Dean's scholarship? On the website it says each student is only eligible for one scholarship, but I don't know whether that means we can only accept one or whether we can only be nominated for / offered one.ks2499 wrote:Just got a phone call from the admissions department in addition to the status update. She said initial merit aid is included in the acceptance packet (in the mail as of today, for those others admitted this afternoon), and eveyone who applies before 1/7 is considered for a PILS scholarship.

Re: Northeastern c/o 2016
Thanks for the prompt response! I'm impressed when anyone manages to get useful information out of admit calls. I usually forget everything after I get the good news.ks2499 wrote:
PILS is full tuition. My understanding is that it would replace your original scholarship offer, but I'm not 100% sure.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
