It has got to be something up with their mega-caution this year over last year's overenrollment. They're being crazy cautious this year I bet and hopefully your application is just fine (i.e. - it's them, not you, honey). No reason why they shouldn't/won't take you off the wait list before too long and hopefully throw some $$$ your way.FallingHigher wrote:I was really shocked. OUCH.
I am really worried something in my application (resume, personal statement, addendum) must have hurt me. This makes me worried about the rest of my cycle.
Good luck to all still waiting, PM if you have any questions.
Agree. Not admitting folks with practically perfect GPAs and only one point below median LSAT is a recipe for disaster.2012Split177 wrote:It has got to be something up with their mega-caution this year over last year's overenrollment. After reading your post I went on LSN to look, that made me feel a lot better so thank you for pointing that out. I know Washington and Lee is a good school, but it isn't on par with Cornell just yet. Their admission strategy needs some adjustments, I hope they figure it out sooner rather than later.seancris wrote:FWIW, literally all of the admitted students on LSN also have T14 offers (excluding the 166/3.99 that was a mistake account from the 11-12 cycle).
Would anticipate a lot of withdrawals from this batch.
ETA: Have there been any non-URM admits with median (164) or lower LSATs?
Could be the over enrollment. Could just be the new AD's way of doing business.2012Lsatscore wrote:So...are all the number geeks in agreement that the over enrollment issue is the main cause of the WL crisis? I don't even pretend to know about this stuff, but I did see that W&L had a serious ranking jump. They went from the 30s up to 24. Could this matter? Could it be that they are trying to raise their medians?
Even the 161/3.6 that was admitted has two T14 offers, lol. After reading your post I went on LSN to look, that made me feel a lot better so thank you for pointing that out. My personal hunch is that the reason the ranking jumped is mostly BECAUSE fewer people turned the school down last cycle. I've heard that when fewer students decline admission the school it can increase a school's ranking. I'm sure they would love to raise their medians but if everyone they accept this cycle already has acceptances to T14 schools then there will be more people withdraw and the school might drop back down to ~30 in the ranking by having to accept larger numbers of applicants. Obviously I'm no expert, and could be way off base but it is just my hunch. I hope I am wrong but if not I sure do hope for my sake they start accepting applicants closer to their medians who want to attend so that their ranking stays in the ~24 range.2012Lsatscore wrote:So...are all the number geeks in agreement that the over enrollment issue is the main cause of the WL crisis? I PM you with the detail. Pretty much, I changed LSN numbers slightly for autonomy. My reports on here earlier are accurate. Sorry for the confusion!2012Lsatscore wrote:Fallinghigher, your LSN now shows a 164 lsat score but you just posted that you had a 163. Can you please clarify? I think my blood pressure just went through the roof.

The Thanksgiving email said that a new batch of decisions would be coming weekly up until the next holiday break, so there will likely be another round this week sometime.mh33 wrote:Checking in. My app was received 11/13, went in review 11/26. How long do people think until the next round of decisions?

Thats odd because my numbers got me waitlisted but compared to the softs that prior applicants listed on LSN mine are arguably more "impressive".Dubyuhnell wrote:As a current student... I think you most of you dont realize how different w&L admissions work... they are truly the example of not being number whores... especially this year with already having 20 or so student already committed from deferrals. they really look beyond numbers to what a person would not only bring to the academic sphere of W&L but also to the community. Please do not be shocked when someone with lower numbers gets an accpetance here. We are still a top 25 law school and they will get the numbers they need to maintain medians but after that they look at the entire application.
Good luck to everybody
