I applied FT with slightly under medians for both LSAT and UGPA and not URM. I would've thought I'd at least be WL'd with my softs. Graduate degree with 3.9/work experience/internship in local Prosecutor's office. I thought wrong. On to the next...

That's really surprising. Maybe you should call the admissions office and try to get some feedback...I would have bet you'd be admitted.

So today I got the dreaded "The Admission Committee has carefully reviewed your file and the members are impressed by your credentials. At this time, the Committee has voted to defer making a decision on your file until later in the application season. "

I can only assume this means I have been waitlisted. They said they would know more in March..

Does anybody have any insight about the RU-N waitlisting process? How many people they accept from the waitlist, etc. 155/2.76 with strong softs and several years paralegal experience.

Got deffered yesterday as well. Is being deffered much different from being waitlisted?

3.9/155 Not URM. I got into similarly ranked schools with scholly. I really want Rutgers though.

Could anyone with more info on the deffered process give me some more insight about it? If there is any to give.

I wasn't exactly surprised. I knew two applicants from previous years who had similar numbers and experience and also got rejected. The letter is actually quite rude indicating that a denied applicant should not contact admissions because all decisions are final with no room for appeal. That's a bit much if you ask me so no, I will not be contacting them for feedback. (This is when I giggle.)

I am above 75th for GPA and LSAT, still have yet to hear a thing...

I won't leave you hanging. How long ago did you apply? The admissions committee may be shifting their primary focus from app reviews to admitted student management, but with your stats above 75th, they'd be hard pressed to deny you at any point in the game.

I'm instate so I am really pushing for a solid scholarship, 12k at the very least - to make it worthwhile.

I feel like there is some cutoff line in the admissions timeline when they admit a large batch and subsequently become more selective with spots and scholarships. The grades of people who are now being deferred or rejected are higher than those that were being accepted before so I'm not sure what's going on but they said that they meet often so hopefully they'll get back to you soon.

I know, I know, not the right thread - but as my main concern is getting into Rutgers-Camden, do you believe the same scenario applies to RU-C? LSN indicates that the majority of applicants are still waiting for their decision. I have been complete for months and no movement at all. For reference, I was deferred at RU-N earlier this week.

I plan on applying next cycle. I have a 3.18 gpa and a 149 LSAT. Law school predictor has me at a deny with a 14% chance of acceptance into the part time program. In state and not considered a minority.Six years of work experience. Anyone know of any similar numbers with a happy ending?

Yes, please retake. I remember when I applied to RN with the hopes of just being accepted. I am glad I waited and retook as I am now sitting with a 12k scholly and instate tuition.

Don't even consider applying to law school with a 149. You can study for a few months at the least and get that number up.

Median is 3.0, so the stipulation isn't the worst. For those that already have a specific employment plan, I'd say law school can still hold value. There are some non-traditional routes for students such as law enforcement in which simply having a law degree allow for upward mobility.

In case this helps anyone out - I just found a 10k scholarship to Rutgers-Newark in my spam folder. That with in-state tuition makes Ru-N a pretty solid option.

Holy crap. Thank you for that advice. I just found an admission to another school in my spam folder. Luckily it was only sent to me 30 minutes ago so it hadn't been sitting there for long.

Suggestions of safe places to live, both in and out of Newark? I've got friends in Hoboken, but that's just too much to pay, and socially I'd go out in the city over Hoboken anyway.
