I understand they have probably left this intentionally vague in order to give them more space with awarding scholarships and waiting until more people have applied. Nevertheless, does anyone know when one should expect to hear about a merit-based scholarship or has someone already been offered one?

Last year there were essentially two major batches of scholarships, with some stragglers coming in later. The first one was in mid-December, and the second was in mid-January. As I said, more came later but they were few and far between.
Plenty of people who expect scholarship aid won't get any, and some who don't or shouldn't expect any will get some. They're just random, and tend to favor auto-admits with 165+ LSAT scores. OOS students seemed to receive higher awards than in-state students with similar numbers.
The awards ranged from 18k-42k total. No full rides.
With all due respect to UF, they're about as stingy as it gets when it comes to merit-aid. The attitude seems to be that the in-state tuition is cheap enough and we'd all be lucky to pay full-price, whatever that happens to be, for the next three years.
((((((( Someone kill me. GPA: 3.5 Bachelors and Masters in Accounting when I graduate from UF in 2013. Internship at US Attorney's Office. Good Letters of Rec from US Attorney, Chief of Police Clearwater, and two accounting professors. IF ONLY ANY OF THAT MATTERED!!!!! 
I was pretty depressed after the LSAT but I'm OK now... will just have to try again next year.
